Question about laptop screens

Mine has a streak on it like something was pressed against it when it was closed and I was wondering would I have to replace the laptop or can the screen be fixed?

Same thing happened to me just a couple months ago. I was typing and my 5 year old nephew came up and slammed it closed. The pressure of the screen hitting my hand cracked/bent it.

I went to the Geek Squad. They said that they could fix it BUT it would be cheaper to go on Amazon/eBay, etc. and ORDER your own screen. Just search for whatever the model of the screen screen is. You look at the model of your laptop, and order the screen from an online outfit. Then take your broken/cracked laptop and the new screen to the Geek Squad and they will fix it.

It ended up costing be about 80 dollars to do it that way. Now, you can also just take it to the Geek Squad and they'll order the new screen, AND replace it, but that will be more expensive (around $150-200 vs. the 80 or 90 I payed).

Hope this helps.

I hate the Geek Squad. They took forever to fix my computer and charged me a fortune to fix it. It didn't last me a year before it was messed up again. Instead of taking it back to them since apparently the warranty had expired I decided just to buy a new computer and still haven't had a problem with it.

Oh really? I've had nothing but great experiences with them.

When my screen broke, I brought them the broken computer and the new screen, and they fixed it overnight!

yup..and they gave me a cheap anti virus on my computer. They went on and on about how good it was....well it wasnt...when I got my new computer it was installed with Norton anti virus and I love it.....

Thanks :D

I can get the screen from Compaq for about $65 so I might do that then take it to a place here in town that fixes computers and things cheap

If you're talking about a very thin blue, green, red, or yellow line, then I wouldn't worry about it. It pops up on my screen all the time (sometimes more than one), but it goes away.

No it's almost clear, but it's really noticeable when I go to close my laptop. I can see it now, it's like someone pressed something against the screen then just swiped it while it was pressing in on the screen. It's not as noticeable as it was yesterday though.

You have this too? I used to get that ALL THE TIME on my old computer! I hated it.

And no problem Angie! Hope I helped!

The mark is completely gone, wow!!! I dunno what it was, but I'm glad it's gone.

I love Norton Anti-virus, it's all I'll use now

Id stay away from Norton or any of this pre-installed anti-virus programs that either come on your pc or you have to pay for. My pesonal preference is Avast
