LMAO It doesn't matter who passes what to whom the fact is their DEMO and yes HH's are rising. They get a pas in my book. Look at all the buzz they've created with the two Todd Tale. THough the show is not perfect nor are they I think they do deserve a pass. WHat soap has generated this much buzz as OLTL in the last 5 years or so?

Days and the baby switch a couple of years ago that actually boosted the shows ratings for an extended period of time during and after the story ended. It wasn't really until Spring/Summer of 2010 a good 6 months after the story ended that the show's ratings and the storytelling took a nosedive. They didn;t rely on a big named return like OLTL has, in fact but just good story that was well paced and this was around the time they also fired some very high profile actors. This story in fact helped sustain and actually grow the ratings after the firings.

I think they still do some things right, but the show has been wildly inconsistent and hot and cold since the summer of 2008. It's either great, okay, or miserable. Right now it's just barely okay because of a couple stories, IMO, but when those hit, they do well and shame other shows on the network. Certainly a great deal of the blame must fall on RC regardless of micromanagement.

What are you talking about? OLTL ratings have risen. Nothing more and nothing less. Why does everyone have to dissect this time and time again. Let the show ride it's wave in peace. I am sick of this OLTL bashing that it seems PEOPLE GO OUT THERE WAY TO DO! I mean it's ok to not like RC, FV, or the show itself. But now it's to the point, either in the ratings thread, the online thread and now this one, there are a select few that REALLY GO OUT THEIR WAY TO bring down OLTL. It's tiresome. The next show is going to be Days that everyone will hate on. Come on folks this soaps are a dying art, why do we sit here and dissect demos, who's writing what, and who produced what episode. Just relax, and go for the ride. If you think you can do better, I've said it once and I'll say it again, we got a hardy blog section here at SON, if you don't like what you see, than write your own version or the things as you see it Don't be part of the problem have a solotion. Any idiot can sit here and complain. But if your gonna complain have a solution. NO ONE here to my knowledge is a professional in this soap field of ANY capacity. SO while we pass judgement on folks like Kim Zimmer and others, it's all based on here say. There are THREE sides to every story.

All I am saying folks relax and enjoy the ride

RC is not awful I just get tired of the accollades for him like he;s some miracle worker because of the 2 Todd crap. Like any writer he does good and bad. But maybe we should all praise Dena Hackley who was the HW at Days when they did the baby switch story and then proceeded to decimate that show with her awfulness

Jane, these are my thoughts exactly (regarding not only RC, but FV as well). These gentlemen do get some things right, but they are still overrated.

Centering OLTL around the Fords was the biggest mistake of all, IMHO. Does anybody know whose idea--that of Frons, FV, RC, or all of them--was it to do this? (It is interesting to note that OLTL has been far less Ford-centric during its recent ratings surge; I don't believe this is any coincidence.) Of course, I'm in no way letting Frons off the hook for this (even if it the Fords were the brainchild of FV or RC): that's because he should have known better, given that he was the head of NBC Daytime when SFT became all about the McClearys.

I get why you'd be annoyed at the "bashing" but I think it's different when fans of the show say what they don't like about it now. And sorry, the argument about people who don't offer solutions or aren't in the soap biz having no right to complain is bullshit. You don't have to be a musician to say you don't like the latest Beyonce single. It's like that old story--the writer asks what you think of his novel, you say you didn't really like it, and his answer is "Writing is hard! Get back to me when YOU write a novel." Sigh...
