EDIT: I have to add this.

Beware of a very odd and perhaps inappropriate comment coming up.

But tonight, on AI, when Katherine McPhee made all those funny, excited faces during "Freedom," I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like having sex with her. Seeing her "O" face. I don't know.

I can't believe Simon said that about Melissa McGhee! I thought she was great!

Lisa and Paris...eh. Paris is my fav, but step it up, girl!

I liked Kinnik too. Wow. Talk about being in the minority tonight.

Mandisa brought the house down.

Kelly - I like her voice. Randy's right. She has been very consistent. But she is just so god awfully annoying I can't stand it.

I think he means that Carrie and Kelly are both blonde, countryish, Southerny, shy, whatever. And Carrie's a better singer. But Kelly is clearly more likeable and has a better personality....basically, I think Simon was saying what I said all last year which is that Carrie had no personality.

I can't say for sure whom I think is going home Thursday, but I can say that:

Mandisa

Paris

Kelly

Lisa

and Ayla

will be five of the six girls who make it.

Why the hell did Ayla chose that Natasha Bedingfield song? I love that song but it was not a good song choice. She butchered it. Ayla has been so good and then she does this. Best of the night were Lisa, Mandisa and Kelly (who I'm growing to like). I'm not a country fan but the girl did good tonight. I think all the girls did good jobs except for Kinnik and Ayla (who was the worse). I think it will end up being Kinnik and Melissa leaving, even though I don't think Melissa should be going.

Lisa - Has good vocals and range but gave a boring performance. She'll sail through, as Simon said, but she has got to step it up and quit playing it safe.

Paris - It was an energizing performance and her vocals are flawless, but again, she was not stepping up and it was lacking something. I miss the Paris from the first week.

Ayla - She did well with a Natasha Bedingfield song, but it didn't come across well. I like her, but the song was disjointed and I think she could come close to going home.

Melissa - I really do like her. Screw Simon. She sang well, and has that sexy raspy voice. I actually want her to make it over Ayla just to say screw you to Simon, but I think she's going home.

Mandisa - The STAR. She owned it and was perfect. And if Simon wants to yell at someone for shouting, yell at Mandisa. LOL. But she was really good.

Katharine - She picked a good song for her again. She sang very well, but she also has to start stepping it up a bit. I'm gonna steal from Simon and say she was actually average. But on a shallow level, I loved her performance. LOL.

Kinnik - Chose the wrong song. She was sharp and she has gone downhill each week. I love her though and wish she could have owned it tonight. She didn't. I definitely think she's going.

Kellie - OMG. I crack up everytime she talks. She is so adorable. That said, she isn't the best vocalist in the group. She sang good, but it wasn't like "wow". She'll sail through, IMO. I think she could start slipping if she doesn't do well with all the theme nights (motown, disco, etc.) And I TOTALLY disagree with Simon about prefering her to Carrie. Simon's just an old horndog. Carrie is loads better than Kellie, but I have to admit, Kellie has a little more personality, LOL. Carrie was very vanilla (although last week she was more open and personable).

GOING HOME?

Melissa

Kinnik

(although if Ayla goes over Melissa, that wouldn't surprise me)

I thought Melissa was great. Before I even watched, I told my friends that Simon was going to trash who he didn't like and didn't want in the Top 12 no matter what they sang. I thought Melissa did a better job than Paris, but she got trashed because Simon and even the other judges want Paris in the Top 12 and not Melissa.

Simon made a point of telling 6 girls they would make it through and 2 girls they wouldn't before he even heard them all sing. I hope he is wrong, but I like Melissa. Her smoky voice is unique and I think she's getting better. Based on performance I would send Kinnik and Paris home, but I know it won't be Paris this week.

I don't think Simon meant that Kellie could outsince Carrie, but that he prefered her personality. I don't believe there has been an Idol contestant with a better voice than Carrie's, but he was referring to the total package.

Yeah, Roger. You're probably right in that Simon preferred Kellie's personality over Carrie's. I have to admit I do too, LOL. I love Carrie, definitely but... heh. Carrie can definitely outsing Kellie, so I don't think Simon meant that, but you'd never know it unless he clarified what he meant, so it can be taken a hundred ways. Poor Carrie.

But you are also right, Roger, that Simon had his mind made up who he wants in the top 12 and acted accordingly. Let's see how he handles the guys tonight.

    • The whole town gushing over John Black as if he was a saint is eye rolling.  I guess death really colors people's memories over his many flaws, but I guess that is normal and human nature. I'm still confused as to why Leo hasn't been written out.  The actor stank up two soaps with his sub par acting, what does he have on TPTB's to remain on these soaps.   What's the point of Cat?  I hope the new head-writers figure out her purpose and develop her character. And I much prefer scenes not focusing on John's death because life does go on for the world when someone passes.
    • Wasn't there a break in Zaslow's first run? I thought Roger was off-screen for a while, and when Zas came back, Roger was hiding at the boarding house and Nola figured out there was something hinkey about him. I'm pretty sure Simon chose to leave the first time and was replaced by RVV. I don't want to assume Jordan's issues played a role in his first departure, but Maeve said in an interview that at some point, it became very hard for her to work with him and she asked to work with him less. That seems to fit 1986, where suddenly Vanessa is essentially Ross' law clerk and not at every Lewis family moment.
    • He needs to divorce her arse with her constant cheating.   She's no better than Doug... she's F*cking pathetic.
    • I didn't know of any interruptions for Maeve Kinkead after her 1997 return. Her runs would then be 1981-1987, 1989-1996, 1997-2000, short arcs until the end. I knew Maureen Garrett second run was interrupted from a 2009 interview but I couldn't recall the exact year. Her runs would then be 1976-1980, 1988-2000, short arcs until the end.
    • As I said in May, I have no problem with Martin and Bradley being married. You can still do all the fun introloper storylines with them as you do everyone else. Both men of a certain age, and it is very believable for them to have either a first love or have been previously married. And, you can do it without either of them cheating!

I said something similar during the premiere week. Bill was the perfect age to play Martin as Vernon and Anita's child. I would've much preferred this version, but oh well.
    • I don't know how you want to count Maeve. She "retired" in '00, but would come back for appearances. I don't know however if she made an appearance in '01 or '03. In '02 I believe she came back for Josh and Reva's wedding. I assume she came back when Gina Tognoni took over the role of Dinah. And I know she was back for Ross' memorial service. Maureen Garrett was around until at least '00. I don't think Holly was in town when Ben returned though. I just got pissed off about Jerry all over again.
    • So, pretty sure Zaslow, Garrett, Kinkead, and Newman all chose to leave the first time. (If that's wrong, please correct me). Bernau - not sure why he left the first time. Was it voluntary? Or did they decide to write him out? They were writing so many out during that time period. It always seemed odd to me that they introduced Alex, FINALLY giving him someone he could talk to, and then he was written out. Or maybe that's why they made Alex his sister, so she could take his place as the head of the Spaulding family? Would love more intel on that if anyone knows. Simon - was he replaced by RVV? Or did he voluntarily leave the first time? It seems to me like one of those times TPTB decided to sex up or glamorize a character (and it clearly flopped). If he was fired, interesting he came back. Again, would love if someone could spill the tea. Clarke - I've always assumed he left because of his personal issues, but not sure if that was the case the first time.
    • So Doug just leaves Vanessa there with Joey? He's a f*cking loser. Vanessa needs to divorce his arse
