English Tea - partially, yes. There are three of us collecting episodes and clipping them.

I asked a few pages back, but I guess you missed it - is the AMCThroughTheYears channel yours? It's very Brooke-centered, and I know you're a big fan of the character. If it is and you are looking for anything from 1999-2000, let me know because there's a good change I have it, and I'd be interested in trading for other 90s Erica clips.

That's still one of the funniest things I've ever seen on daytime. AMC was of such a specific piece in its heyday, and they could get away with that stuff because they were both socially conscious and still loving to their most eccentric and incorrect or dysfunctional characters. I was so glad to see that spirit return to the show last year.

^ Eh, I didn't care for the gay storyline in the 90s because it centered around new characters we barely knew. The Bianca coming out story was far more powerful, IMHO, because it was a legacy character, the daughter of the most famous soap opera character ever, coming out as gay, and staying on as a major character without being a victim of a hate crime or losing her job or being discriminated against for being gay. Yes, the mid-90s gay story did break some ground in daytime, and it opened the door for the Bianca story, but it wasn't really must-see TV for me. It's similar to the Zarf/Zoe story for me in that it was the new outsider who was "different" from everyone else, as opposed to characters I already knew and liked.

Actress Rosemary Murphy played Maureen, the mother of Mark Dalton, on All My Children. (She was one of two actresses in the role, and I think that she was the first one).

She also played Nola Hollister #2 on The Secret Storm and Sam Fowler's mother on Another World.

(CNN) -- Rosemary Murphy, an Emmy Award-winning actress, has died. She was 89

Murphy died Saturday night at her home in Manhattan, her agent confirmed to CNN. The New York Times cited cancer as the cause of death.

Murphy was known for her film role as Miss Maudie Atkinson in the 1962 classic "To Kill a Mockingbird." Murphy played the neighbor to widower and lawyer Atticus Finch, played by Gregory Peck.

In 1976, it was Murphy's portrayal of Sara Delano Roosevelt, the mother of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in the ABC television movie "Eleanor and Franklin" that earned her an Emmy. The following year she was nominated for another Emmy when she reprised her role as Roosevelt for the sequel, "Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years."

Murphy also appeared on Broadway receiving Tony nominations for roles in 1960's "Period of Adjustment" as the wife of a Korean War veteran; as Dorothy Cleaves, a wife who finds out about her husband's infidelity in "Any Wednesday" and in "A Delicate Balance," where she played an alcoholic named Claire.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" now an e-book

She continued to work in television, portraying the mother of presidents. In the 1984 mini-series "George Washington" Murphy played Mary Ball Washington, the mother of the nation's first president. She also portrayed Rose Kennedy, the mother of President John F. Kennedy, in 1991's "A Woman Named Jackie."

Her later TV credits include the long-running soap operas, "The Young and the Restless" and "As the World Turns." According to IMDB, one of Murphy's last roles was for the film "The Romantics" with Katie Holmes, Anna Paquin and Josh Duhamel.

Murphy's survivors include a sister, Mildred Pond.

Danfling, in response to an earlier post, I believe Cynthia Ewing may be the name of Linc's romantic interest in 78-79. From an archived French Fan post Look into the Past from JonMichael Reed's column Jun 79, she was a former flame of Linc. This may be the Fern Fitzgerald character.

    • Eeek. I didn't know this either! I will say, though, even though they skimmed over a lot of Roger's past, I will give them props for not trying to turn him into a hero. Yeah, I was hoping we would get more 1986 episodes than were available on YT before, but now I'm wondering if I really want to see that.
    • That's what Julie Hanan Carruthers is doing for BTG at the new studio in Atlanta, but JHC is credited. And @errol said JHC is working in a nonproduction capacity at Y&R.
    • I remember when the whole Missy Reeves controversy started in 2012.  She tweeted support of a business that had made homophobic statements. Greg Rikaart (who was on Y&R back then) publicly called her out on it, but was willing to reach out and speak with her. Article here: https://greginhollywood.com/greg-rikaart-talks-about-his-twitter-war-with-fellow-soap-star-melissa-reeves-over-anti-gay-chick-fil-a-73139 That being said, ten years later, on DAYS, in 2022, when they had they double wedding of Leo/CraigWesley and Gwen/Xander, Jack and Jennifer came to the wedding.  At that time, Missy Reeves was only intermittently available for DAYS. Jennifer was living "in Boston" and Cady McClain and Missy were each intermittently appearing as Jennifer, on the specific occasions when the show required a Jennifer to appear. Missy wasn't on contract and she could have said no. But she chose to appear as Jennifer for the gay wedding of Greg Rikaart's character.   So... I mean... I would assume they reached a détente behind-the-scenes. Missy still has her belief system but there's that.
    • That was one of the best grandslam finals.  Alcaraz comes all the way back down 2 sets to 0, and three match points in the 3rd set, to win it in a 5th set tie-break.  And the quality of play was excellent - so many great shots.  What a battle!
    • Indeed. I may try to watch it in full sometime, but not anytime soon... Mark played Sean Baxter for a few episodes when Courtney married Andy. Burke was either on Broadway or at OLTL at that time, I suppose.
    • Well, Josh was a horndog. LOL Yep. It was one of the first really weird things Reva did with her PPD. She became obsessed with the idea that Dylan and Sam should get married. Sam was only 17, and needed her parent's permission. Reva helped them leave town so they could go to a neighboring state where Sam was old enough. Ross, Billy and Josh stopped them, then Sam went to India to try and persaude Justin. Reva followed her and didn't tell Josh she was going. While Reva was gone, Josh advertised for nannies, and Harley applied. He ended up hiring someone else. But when Reva returned, she hired Harley because (in her weird mental state) she wanted someone she could trust with the kids (because she feared Josh was trying to get rid of her and that Vanessa wanted the children.). After Reva starts treatment, she asks Harley to stay until she's stronger because she's good with the kids. At the party, Reva starts going off the rails, insulting Justin and Josh hauls her to a private dining room to ask WTF. Reva starts confronting him about the "affair" with Vanessa, and he realizes she is weird. He locks her in the dining room and frees Mindy and Van from the ladies room (where Reva has locked them in). Van starts telling him that Reva attacked her and needs help.  Reva escapes out the window of the dining room and goes back to the party, climbs onto a table and starts a striptease. Josh gets her to stop, takes her home and after filling Ed in, decides to go to the doctor the next day. Reva then takes off and spends days running around town, coming on to a guy she thinks is Billy, Billy, Hamp, Frank and Roger.  Roger takes her to his apartment and takes nude pictures of her, which he tries to blackmail Billy with. He wants the deed to the land the Towers is on in exchange for them. (Billy had been left the deed by a sweet old lady who lost her home in the 5th street fire. Roger had stolen the deed from her before she died. After Roger took those pics of Reva, she saw him hide them, and took an envelope from the hiding place. She didn't realize she'd taken the deed and not the pictures.)  Anyway, Billy and Vanessa trick Roger into burning the pictures, claim the deed and at the Towers opening reveal that Billy owns the land and therefore the Towers. That's what led to Roger and Alex's breakup and Roger and Mindy's affair. Mark Lewis was on ATWT? 1986 is not a good year, storywise. No bueno. Muy no bueno.
    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
