2011 Daytime Emmy Pre-Noms- FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

  • Member

I LOVE the Daytime Emmys, as I suspect many of you here do as well. In 2008 and 2010, I created the SON DAYTIME EMMY DREAM BALLOT, where we vote, based on the pre-noms, on who we would nominate if we were the ones voting for the Emmys. This year, I've decided to take it a step further.

As some of you know, my Dream Ballot is based on what SOW used to do in their magazine years ago. You may also recall that they used to have a For Your Consideration feature as well, which they would publish when the ballots were sent out. So, this year, I've decided to do an SON: For Your Consideration. The Daytime Emmy Pre-Noms will be announced on Friday, February 25th, and the deadline for voting was yesterday, so we're a bit late for a true FYC ballot, but we'll do it anyway. Here's how it works:

Vote for pre-noms for any and all shows that you watch. You may pre-nominate 2 actors in each category for each show. You can either post your choices in this thread or send them to me via PM. The deadline for voting will be Sunday, February 20th and I will post the FYC winners on Monday, February 21st. Thought this would be a fun warm up for the Dream Ballot, which I will be doing, of course, after the pre-noms come out. Happy voting!

Note to mods- Can we please keep this in the DTS forum? It's WAY early to put it in the Daytime Emmy forum, as nobody visits there right now and I'd like to get as much participation as possible. Please & thank you! :D

How the HELL is Dominic Zapogrna a supporting actor? The guy is in the most episodes out of everyone!

He must go to Minshew for guidance in these matters. The episode where Sonny shot him was pretty good and he had a great speech. I assume that is what he will be submitting.

Some tidbits on the voting so far:

AMC- Debbi Morgan, Finn Wittrock, Shannon Kane, and Natalie Hall have the most votes of any actors on any soap, all with 9. They're all pretty much locks. Fans are split whether Jacob Young is lead or supporting, though he has a good amount more bids for supporting. He also has 9 votes, but between 2 categories. The second Lead Actress spot is pretty much up for grabs, same with the second Younger Actor spot. Supporting Actress is still an open race, though 2 actresses are ahead of the pack.

ATWT- Only 2 of us have voted! Where art thou, ATWT fans?

B&B- Shockingly, KKL has a vote in supporting even though she's on every day and the show is ABOUT Brooke. Don Diamont is ahead in the Lead Actor pack, though the second spot is up for grabs. Supporting Actor is very tight, with 4 actors duking it out. Supporting Actress is a mess- 8 ladies have received votes and there's no clear leader. Wood & Matula are the only Younger Actress choices that have received votes, and there's 2 clear leaders in Younger Actor, with a possible spoiler.

DAYS- Suzanne Rogers has more votes than anyone in the cast with 8 and is pretty much a lock for Supporting Actress. The second slot is too close to call, with 3 actresses vying for the spot. Molly Burnett, Lauren Boles, and Shelley Hennig are in a dead heat for Younger Actress, and Younger Actor is tight between 4 actors as well. Supporting Actor, Lead Actor, and Lead Actress all have 2 clear leaders, though the lead categories still have some wiggle room for others to pull through.

GH- Lexi Ainsworth is a lock for Younger Actress, but the other slot is a toss up between 5 others. Same with Younger Actor- Chad Duell is a lock, but the second spot is anyone's guess between 3 actors. Supporting Actress is a tight race, thanks to fans being split as to whether NLG & Kimberlee McCullough are leads or supporting. Both have more votes in lead though and are in the hunt there. Jonathan Jackson has a clear lead in Supporting ACtor, but the second spot is tight between 2 guys. Benard & Burton pretty much own Lead Actor, but Lead Actress is anyone's game, with 3 actresses mainly competing for the 2 spots.

OLTL- The Aldersons are the clear leaders in the Younger categories, with the other spot being very divided and anyone's game. Suppporting Actress is a 3 way tie right now, and Supporting Actor is a tight race between 3 guys. Jerry VerDorn and Florencia Lozano are the clear leaders in the Lead categories, but the second spot is a tight race in both categories.

Y&R- The voting turnout is almost as bad as ATWT. The Younger categories each only have 1 person voted for that actually qualifies. Supporting Actress has 2 clear leaders, while Supporting Actor is anybody's game. Lead Actor & Actress also have clear leaders, but with such a low voting turnout thusfar, anybody can sneak in & take the lead.

I dont think many like her. This is just a case of her being the only choice bc there arent many young actresses on the show. She qualifies by default

How is GH breaking the rules and how can they get away with it? Can someone explain?

I think the shows brass dictated who could submit instead of allowing anyone to submit if they wanted to. Something went down at OLTL last year where they still did an in house vote and those that were selected had their entry fee paid, but they couldn't stop others from submitting their name. Crystal Hunt submitted and ended up getting the pre-nom when she wasn't the choice of the in house vote.
