January 8, 201115 yr Member Was there any decade better than the 70s for songs that you shake your head at the shamelessness of and yet you still find yourself moved.

January 8, 201115 yr Member Wildfire would have been my next post for sure. I think there's a whole genre of "cheesy but depressing" 70s songs out there. I'll let someone else do Seasons in the Sun, but whenever I think of that one, Wildfire, and Shannon, this one isn't far behind:
January 9, 201115 yr Member That video just ups the sadness a million times with all those cute pups. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Pc3OnSQc48s This song as a child had me thinking a lot. It is a very somber sad song.
January 9, 201115 yr Member LOL, this came on my friends iPod the other day right after a Guns and Roses song, and I took one look at her and said, "Any person who has an iPod with the potential to shuffle these two songs right after one another is a friend for life." And then of course I led right into "Looks like it's over..." in my dulcet-tone falsetto
January 10, 201115 yr Member I think I'm one of the few people who actually likes Seasons in the Sun Speaking of the Beach Boys, they had plenty of cheesy stuff in the 1970s, but some of it actually had some emotion. Unreleased until 1990s box set, but still dates from the 1970s - Still I Dream of It.

January 10, 201115 yr Member I think I'm one of the few people who actually likes Seasons in the Sun We had joy ...we had fun..we had season in the sun...sigh....flove that song
January 10, 201115 yr Member And this is one of my top ten favorite songs of all time. Sad, but DURMATIC! It sounds so dark and hypnotic, doing a slow build throughout the song, and then the use of the timpani right before and during the last chorus just makes the song EXPLODE. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-C-5FDyuaw Edited January 10, 201115 yr by alphanguy74
January 10, 201115 yr Member I always thought this song was depressing <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjsDpkvBxaY?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjsDpkvBxaY?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjsDpkvBxaY?fs=1&hl=en_US type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> Edited January 10, 201115 yr by Soapsuds
January 10, 201115 yr Member And of course, what many consider the saddest song in music history (Or a close second to Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey (I Miss you)": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_sk7OycjdI Edited January 10, 201115 yr by alphanguy74
