Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker's new CNN show will be called “Parker/Spitzer” and premiere Oct. 4, it was announced by the network Tuesday.

In a clip posted on CNN.com, the former governor of New York, who stepped down in March 2008 after it had been revealed he hired a prostitute, and Parker, who writes a nationally syndicated column, flirt while sparring about what to name their show.

Spitzer says he'd prefer to title the show "Spitzer/Parker," before joking that he'll concedes to "Parker/Spitzer."

Last June, CNN announced that Spitzer would co-host a political debate show with Parker, to air at 8 p.m. ET.

"Other cable news channels force-feed viewers one narrow, predictable point of view; in contrast, CNN will be offering a lively roundup of all the best ideas - presented by two of the most intelligent and outspoken figures in the country," CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein said in a statement at the time. "Eliot and Kathleen are beholden to no vested interest - in fact, quite the opposite: they are renowned for taking on the most powerful targets and most important causes."

A documentary about Spitzer, "Client 9," will be released on VOD just three days before the show premieres. It hits theaters in November.

What a terrible title. It sounds either crude or like some type of confusing Monopoly property.

Kathleen Parker tends to write insulting things like this and Spitzer is apparently being rewarded for scandal.

CNN deserves to slide further down the ratings toilet.

As is evident from Spitzer's "joke" both have enormous egos, couldn't agree on any either title so their names had to be the title.

Once Larry King signs off in December, CNN will lose anything that defines them as a cable news network, and Larry has been dwindling for years anyway. Whether you agree or disagree with the biased slant they provide.... FOX News is always in the spotlight and FOX News is what everyone is talking about. CNN continues to try and reinvent the wheel and they continue to fail. This Spitzer/Parker thing (and I echo the snetiments regarding the pretentious title) seems like a poor man's Crossfire. I didn't see the first show, but based off of their interview with Larry King.... they really have no flare of chemistry with one another and they seemed to be giving off awkward vibes. I understand the point of the show is different view points, but there has to be some logical fit and there doesn't seem to be one.

I know it is an unpopular idea, but CNN should actually do the news. If you turn on CNN International you are greeted by programs called "world report", "world business", and "world sport". I don't see what is wrong with titles like that or programs designed to give you the news, weather and sports without a lot of screaming. They also carry Larry King, Sanjay Gupta and whatever else for discussion and package whatever.

I realize FOX has a bigger audience, but does that mean CNN should go after the same brain addled audience? Is there anywhere in journalism left that the people feel a responsibility to actually report and investigate the news? The fact that it is Anderson Cooper showing me the 360 doesn't make the 360 more interesting.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday that CNN is giving new show "Parker Spitzer" time to grow and further tweak its approach. After a disappointing ratings start last Monday, it showed signs of growth in the competitive 8pm timeslot. According to the Journal, the show's ratings had grown nearly a quarter among younger viewers by Thursday. Plus, after its first day, it exceeded Larry King in terms of viewers 25-54, which are the core target for news advertisers.

The paper also highlighted that the show has added segments with more guests and decluttered the hosts' table, which was full of newspapers on the debut episode.
