AMC: "Grossly over-budget"

It was definitely way more than a week they trashed OLTL. I was hating them for a while and not because they trashed the show, but that whole 90 degree turn over KISH was ridiculous. IMHO. It wasn't until recently that they've let up. I concur Luke loves AMC and Jamey does let him have it.

I know. Considering Julie Hanan Carruthers was mismanaging the budget before the move (see the awful dance marathon). Then forgets details like leasing storage space next to the studio for sets. Why would anyone be surprised that the show is still over budget. I think the only way they are going to get there cost in line is to fire her and bring in a new executive producer.

This is also pure speculation on my part, but some OLTL scenes are really sloppy. I mean REALLY sloppy. I think not only do they shoot a bunch of scenes in one day, they also do everything on the first take. Their use of old sets, the newer, younger, cheaper actors, lack of promotion/stunts, etc. keeps costs down. OLTL comes under budget and it shows.

Oh my god, you are only offended because you are an AMC fan-boy. Had he been saying OLTL was a goner, you'd be agreeing with him.

How is really liking a show and wanting it to continue on sick?

Once again, how is saying the show over budget making an opinion on it? What does Jamey gain for spinning some false tale about the behind the scenes stuff at AMC?

How do you know? You don't work at ABC. When Jamey broke the news about AMC moving, he said in the very same article that they tried moving OLTL to Florida in 2003. So that pretty much makes your statement about that a moot point. Or was Jamey just making that up for the hell of it?

It doesn't matter what Frons wants, if his boss says cancel AMC, he has to cancel it. I doubt the big wigs at ABC are worried about Susan Lucci being eons more popular and well known than Erika Slezak, they are worried about the MONEY.

We agree on something. :)

How, in the hottest of hell, did this turn into AMC vs. OLTL... AGAIN?!!

I am soooo sick of anything pertaining to AMC automatically bringing OLTL fanboys out of the woodwork! All because the two shows are Nixon creations doesn't mean they are both dependent on each other! I wish AMC's business would stay AMC's business.

OLTL has been mentioned in this thread since the first reply, so.....

And who's a fanboy? I have only been watching this show since 2008. Just because I prefer it, and think this whole name recognition and Susan Lucci garbage is bull doesn't make me a fanboy. Why aren't you calling out the AMC fanboys, that keep bringing OLTL into the conversation?

Exactly. :)

I might regret this in the morning. But to hell with it, I'm briefly coming out of retirement to preach.

No. Not exactly. The thread was going pretty smoothly in regards to AMC/OLTL conversation until you, Eric83, on page number four, in post number eighty, lashed out at the idea of people daring to question the Jamey Giddens. So if we're going to blame anybody, please, let's not blanket the whole thing over "us OLTL fans" or "you AMC fans." This isn't the fifth grade. Eric83 introduced discussion on the unnecessary competition between OLTL and AMC.

And, not to toot my own horn, but I suggest everyone consider going into retirement. Because [!@#$%^&*]'s a mess here these days, it really is. Just because someone posts something that you disagree with or take offense to, you DO NOT HAVE TO REPLY TO IT. You read it, you get all worked up, you hammer out this ridiculously bitchy reply with feeble attempts at humor thrown in, and you hit that "Add Reply" button with a big ass grin on your face, and the thread just snowballs into a petty argument. Not everybody wants to know your opinion, not everybody cares. You're free to share it and express it, but at this point, you know damn well when doing so is only going to result in 10 pages of unnecessary back-and-forth. Read the post, roll your eyes, cuss out loud, do whatever, then move on to the next thread. Who gives a [!@#$%^&*] if rapemetodd93 says that AMC is crap? Who cares if iamericakane!! snickers at OLTL fans?! Keep it moving. Keep it moving. Keep it moving!!! In the last couple of days alone, I can think of five posts I could have made that would have thrown myself into some pretty messy conflicts, but all I did was type the posts and hit the X. Problem solved. I vent my frustration, but I don't get involved in the drama.

Yes, I slip every now and then and let my wild instincts take over. I didn't have to contribute to this shitstorm of a thread, but I did, and just posting this has made it easier for me to say "Nah, I ain't touchin' that" in the future.

+1

It really was about discussing Jamey. All we said was that Jamey HATE AMC regardless on hoe well its doing.

If Fron's had no choice then ABC really is giving a BIG boost of confidence to AMC then. If this is not Frons choice then ABC wants to keep AMC on the air.

Yup. We can always agree. FRONS NEEDS TO GO!

How did I start it? The comparisons started the moment the thread was started. And I don't care about who questions Jamey. It is funny how people believed him when he was saying OLTL was in trouble, but news on AMC in the same vein gets a different response. I was mainly talking to Kyle who in thread after thread makes declarations on OLTL's future as if he is Frons himself. And he is the one who started it.

But oh, god forbid anyone defend OLTL on this board, yet everyone can bash it and talk about how it deserves to be canned? And how they will throw a big party the day it's cancelled?

And you can look my posts up I have NEVER said anything about hating All My Children or wanting it cancelled, I just don't buy this whole "name recognition" and "Susan Lucci is the face of daytime, this show won't be cancelled" talk. So it isn't really AMC vs. OLTL for me, it's more of Why is it set in stone that OLTL will go first?

Any thread about a soap's budget, especially an ABC soap's budget, is going to include at least a mention of OLTL and its supposed wonder budget. That's pretty much a given. Nobody even trashed OLTL, it was strictly discussion about its budget and what they do in comparison to what AMC does.

If people are biased in their reactions to Jamey's postings, then so what? Let them be biased. Them being biased doesn't have to lead to clusterfrick threads. Personally, I don't hold stock in anything any of these wannabe Louellas say, regardless of their mysterious "sources." If they're right, good for them. I'll bake snickerdoodles. If they're wrong, well then, no surprise. If Kyle makes declarations on OLTL's, so what? Kyle's thoughts have no more power than mine or yours, so what is gained from you telling him what you think if you know it won't change what he thinks?

Why do you feel you have to defend OLTL? Do you like OLTL? Do you want it to succeed? Can anyone else's feelings on the matter change yours? Then leave it alone and save Errol some bandwidth.

But I won't. Because I don't care.
