Shortland Street

Lots of departures lately: Leanne, Rachel, soon Bella. I also love Harper. Shortland Street has strong women and it has become so rare in US soaps. It's refreshing. I like the Cam / Kylie / Jack dynamic. Wish they would be featured a bit more lately. Ali / Lucy are cute but a bit boring.

This year just has one devastating loss after another. He got a great exit though. Am I the only one feeling like TK could soon be gone too? This stuff with Trina (she's only 21 in real life!

), the introduction of sexy Hawks, and Tillie living elsewhere all make it look like his time on the show is coming to a close. 2016 has been ruthless in real and reel life.

I don't buy TK with Trina really seriously. Kylie wants him back for sure now she's off with Cam.

Mo/Kate/Chris could be a very good triangle with Blue, Harry and Jack reacting to it. Don't really care about Lucy's father who is a pain. Wish Lucy would at least try to listen to Ali.

Lucy & Ali are the best part of the show at the moment, and Sass, what a fabulous addition. But I don't like her current pairing with the mayor candidate who's like 30 years older than her, I just don't see anything interesting happening there. Sass reminds me of Brooke, whom I hope returns eventually. I haven't seen enough of Frank yet and him marrying Kylie which if like me you missed a few weeks is just weird. I like the Warner family unit. Shame Harry is such a small part. I still wish Isaac would come back.
I'm glad Leanne returned. Esther, still hate her, she's so whiny which makes her out of place on a show with strong people.
Eve looks like Rachel, it's crazy. I'm inclined to think had Rachel not gone, she could have been her long-lost daughter or at least a relative. Not sure I like her story with Boyd though.

Thanks. I'm enjoying Emmerdale more again lately (the Aaron/Rebecca/Robert story is the poorest but Robert being written in character and giving me some unintentional laughs helps) and I thought the Ashley final episodes and funeral were very well done.

Watching today's episode I quickly thought that I had to come here to express how Drew and Harper are the best couple on all of soap, and then bam, she gets stabbed at the end of the episode! I will not be liable for my actions if she doesn't pull through. Harper is a glamazon!

    • This show treats Claire like a glorified extra prop not the granddaughter of the 2 biggest supercouples this show has ever had. I don't think was ever invested in Claire nor writing for her & her connections to majority of the town. What a waste of a legacy character with so much potential
    • Kim Zimmer could have had a nice career as a supporting actress in Hollywood, but that does not appear to be what she wanted. That's fine, but in the eighties, she was not going to have many options as a leading actress. The eighties were brutal for a performer like her.  Her one big film role lasted a minute or two. Even while she was on GL, she should have been doing episodic television. Was her agent that incompetent or was she just bad at auditioning? Her episode of "Designing Women" was quite popular and was discussed at the time for its subject matter, but she never followed up on it. It's bizarre to me.
    • Billy just showed up for Vanessa's memorial (Sept 9, '96), which is so nice!  My first time seeing him like this outside of random clips from the past. He's out of jail for 24 hours, so not long. It's good to see him with the family.
    • Definitely was more recent than not; when the set originally returned, the change hadn't happened.
    • It was nice seeing Victorias house and I see it’s been remodelled. I’m sure this happened awhile ago but since I tuned out from the show for so long I am only noticing it now. Looks beautiful though!  Also, Billy and Sally gross me out so much. I don’t know what it is I hate so much about them. They give me the ick. Definitely a mismatch. I don’t buy that these people would be attracted to eachother in real life much less have a relationship..

    • Also, isn’t there supposed to be a storyline with Mariah and Tessa? Mariah cheating or something (keeping some kind of secret) and they were only on screen 2 and 3 times this month. Like what? How am I supposed to care when I barely see them?
    • Definitely wouldn't trust Dinah right now haha.  But that's great to know Billy comes back soon!  I'm excited for that. If he's at the boardinghouse, then I guess he does get closer to Nola perhaps, and then he'll be around Peter/Bridget and J, who is currently in his orbit along with Michelle and Dahlia, and Marcus is at the boardinghouse, so maybe they go the teenage story route most of this time until Billy gets back.
    • Sounds like me, but I prefer to be referred to as Contessa. We all know I can go a long time not paying attention to certain things.  And, if I might add, hey there dude, you effed up pretty good this time and I think this was your last chance. So don't let the door hit you in your behind as you go BYE MOMMY!
    • That did cross my mind at first, but I'd be more inclined to believe it if this didn't involve Trump. I'm not at all sure he is capable of being that sneaky. Of course, there's always a possibility I guess that his advisors are doing it without telling him, but that seems awfully risky. Trump is such a loose cannon you can never predict what he's going to do or say.
