Hahah in a few years it will be nothing but five hardcore members talking about the old days of when soaps were still on, and a few people that occasionally drop in just to catch up.

Aint that the truth!

Seriously, this is no laughing matter.

If it wants to survive, it has to devise a long-term strategy and plan. Old & cancelled soaps are a no-no because, let's face it, the Cancelled Soaps subforum is... desolate and deserted. Save for a few sprinkles of posts once in a while.

Primetime? It seems the most likely choice, even though that one is dying too and so few actually post there now.

So... I don't know.

We're also coming into summertime, so it's no surprise the threads are fewer and duller. People are busy!

Yup, I agree with you.

So you mean SON just completely revamping itself?

Maybe it should become a TMZ-ish website with loads of celeb gossip, music news, and stuff about primetime, that could attract alot of new members, and they could some of the members they have now.

I think that is a big part of the reason the folks at Daytime Confidential are now doing this Pop Confidential podcast, so that they wont have to go away after all the soaps are gone.

Well, you know, not really completely. It would need to shift from this to something else.

Sure, who knows when will, say, GH get cancelled, but I don't think SON has the luxury to think: Hey, it won't be any time soon, let's leave things like this.

You can find that anywhere.

At least SON doesn't seem to be going along the lines of being so heavily focused on one or two soap names and their projects. I still haven't cared about watching Imaginary Bitches after the endless hype from DC, Branco, and elsewhere over Eden Reigel and husband.

I am watching my new favorite soap tonight, TREME. http://www.hbo.com/#/treme

Long-form storytelling will survive, but it will have to be worth watching. TREME is worth watching.

And the Tony Awards are on tonight.
