Oprah: New Series on OWN

<span style="font-size:10.5pt;">Oprah Winfrey will host a new series on her OWN cable network.

Titled "Oprah's Next Chapter," the hour-long evening show will air two or three times a week. The format will jettison Winfrey's usual studio setting and have Oprah conducting interviews with notable figures around the world.

"She'll have more riveting conversations with the people we all want to hear from, in some very unexpected places," said the network in a statement. "Oprah's getting untethered from the chairs, opening up her world and taking you with her. From the Taj Mahal to her beloved oak tree, the Great Wall to her own teahouse, it's a whole new kind of Oprah show."

"Chapter" will likely debut later this year on the cable network, a venture from Harpo and Discovery Communications. Five new series will join the 10 that have been previously announced.

OWN also announced a new reality show with Mark Burnett, "Your Own Show: Oprah's Search For the Next TV Star." Winfrey has produced some of the biggest names in daytime TV, such as Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz, and in this new show she'll search for another potential TV personality.

Another project, "Visionaires: Inside the Creative Mind," goes inside the creative process of celebrities like James Cameron, Lady Gaga and Annie Leibovitz. In addition, Oprah Magazine's Editor at Large Gayle King's radio show is getting a televised version, "Gayle King Live!"

Winfrey, whose syndicated daytime talk show ends in September, will appear in other OWN programs, including a potential book-club series.

"My vision for OWN is to create a network that inspires our viewers and makes them want to be who they are on their best day," Winfrey said.

Loving it. I was sure she would have her own show.

Not too sure about that logo, though... more specifically, the colors.

I wonder how this cable network is going to do. I'm not even sure hardcore Oprah followers will follow her after the move. First of all, there will be no The Oprah Winfrey Show, instead, she will interview various people-of-the-day, second, given the recent developments and people bailing out of cable packages, I'm not sure someone will introduce cable into his/her home just to watch Oprah.

It's a entirely different beast I'm not sure whether she'll be able to manage.

She is a dull interviewer of forgettable, not even fluff interviews so I don't know.
