Soaps Most Foolish Decisions

Ugh. I hate it so much. Not only does it screw around with a show's timeline (because there isn't a specific SORAS formula, hence why characters who were older-younger when they were kids can be younger-older when they're adults), but it also screws over the parents as characters. Sami Brady should not be the mother of a kid who is pushing 20! And they write Will knocking some chick up at anytime, so Sami'll be a grandmother. Grandma Sami Brady. SMH.

And let's not forget the fact that one of Sami's baby daddies (EJ) was born in 1997, while her son was born in 1995.

Also on DAYS, I hate how Shawn D. was born in 1987(?), Belle in 1993, and Phillip in 1995, yet they are all supposed to be in the same age range.

DAYS' timeline is really messed up.

I also hate how they de-aged Daisy on GL. She was playing a teen, yet her character was born in the late 80's.

YES! EXACTLY!!

I don't see how anyone can defend SORAS. Jeez. I get that there's not much you can do with kids between the ages of 8-16, but who says you need to give the kids storylines? Just include them in appropriate scenes. But then again, that would mean less plot-based writing and more character-based stuff, so who knows. The UK soaps have gotten along just fine without SORAS.

This is a tradition with soaps, sadly. Look at what happened to Ellen on ATWT. Or on DAYS. Julie a grandmother when she was still in her 30s.

that kinda reminded me of Laura on AMC. She graduated with her teen set back in 1996-1997, yet they brought her back on the show in 1999/2000 and put her back in high school with Bianca and JR. WTF?

That wasn't even de-aging, although it was just as stupid. I believe they said something had been wrong with her courses and she hadn't actually graduated.

LOL! That is so stupid.

Also, how many times was Jack "murdered" during JER's second tenure at DAYS? I swear he died at least 3 times in the span of a year.
