Stories that should have ended characters, but didn't

I don't think so. I don't think the Ric character worked a single day after that story. He made no sense, the show made no sense, and the characters made no sense all trying to create a situation where he continued to live, let alone found people willing to speak to him.

On a soap that harbors Sonny & Jason Ric was fine.

It speaks to how good Hearst is that no matter how Guza tried to AJ Ric Hearst succeeded.

That story showed Ric to be an absolute psycho. By rights he should not have continued. It was a testament to Hearst that he remained for years - I loved him with Alexis, until he fucked her kid.

Todd Manning after raping Marty in 2008. That should have been the end of him.

Sheila Carter after she killed Ridge in the furnace.

James Stenbeck. James Stenbeck. James Stenbeck.

That was the best part of Hearst on GH.

Guza could NOT treat Hearst the way he did Warlock & King.

Billy Warlock left on his own, as I recall. He no longer got enjoyment from playing AJ. Ted King? I think it is an insult to Hearst and Warlock to even put this mannequin in the same sentence as the other two.

I don't think that soaps are in their 'twilight'; however, it is pretty clear that daytime will no longer be home to the serial drama. Soaps may end up online, on a new cable network, or even a weak network like MY hoping to find a niche.

I don't think all kinds of soaps are in danger just daytime dramas. Primetime dramas are still doing relatively well and I think some form of soap opera will always exist.

How can anyone forget AMC turning Jonathan into a woman beater and serial killer? He killed 3 people, including veteran Edmund and spent months terrorizing various women. When they had him killed off in the cave, I thought that SHOULD have ended him. Instead they revealed that he was alive complete with a brain tumor. This story still screams WTF. Theres some stuff you dont redeem and it was insulting that AMC even attempted that.

I liked JB but Jonathan never worked after they tried to redeem him. It didn't help that they still occasionally had him act creepy and hot tempered and he could be almost as self righteous as Ryan.

Stefano shouldn't have come back after Marlena put him into a coma in early 2008. That was the perfect ending for that character.
