Thanks for sharing. This is interesting, especially considering half of them actually did return at some point for long-term stays.

I remember her being pretty popular at the time. What's most interesting about the survey, to me, is the "out of sight, out of mind" quality. It seems the three characters that had left most recently (Tad, Barbara, and Skye, all in 1991) ranked the highest...while those who had been gone longer were much lower. Of course, we're also talking about college students at the time, so many of them probably had never seen a character like Jenny, who had been gone for 7 years at the time of the survey.

You also have to figure in the time frame of 1987 at the earliest to 1991 since there is no clarification what year these students were in. Some could've been seniors and watched all four years, others could be freshmen who go into it that year.

I just thought of something odd....Travis wasn't on the list at all, and he left right before Barbara, around the same time Skye left.

Maybe residual feelings of bitterness over Erica losing Bianca to Travis? It wouldn't be the first time a fanbase acted like a bunch of rabid lunatics and wanted characters permanently banished over their trespasses.

I was also a bit surprised to see Ross on the list at all, especially since they'd made him a rapist and he struggled for story in his end run on the show. I guess that shows what a powerful character he was. I still think they should bring him back to fill the Palmer/Adam void.

I was so thrilled when Barbara returned but she was utterly wasted--it reminded me of Mary, these kinds of older female characters are really missing on AMC and IMHO had TONS of stories where they could be used, and yet they weren't. (Didn't she even sleep with Jack again?)

Not to hijack, but Barbara got on my nerves the last time, constantly calling Jack "Jackson." It's so pretentious. Just like when Jesse calls Angie and Frankie "Angela" and "Franklin." You don't see JR going around saying, "I thought I lost everything when Arabella died."
