In terms of people dating episodes going by posters' descriptions I've had this one tucked away, hoping some day to date it & find it & get to see it. If anyone has a clue, It would be remarkable.

There was a great scene between Alex and Lillian during the Nick McHenry story that did a wonderful job in explaining who Alex essentially was.  It was a beautifully written scene.  Everyone (including the viewers) thought Alex was going over the edge, but this scene gave her the chance to explain herself.  It was the first time in years - possibly ever in McKinsey's run - to explain exactly who Alex had always been.  She talked about how she had been used and abused by all the men in her life who she loved - her father, her brother, Eric and Roger.  Losing Lujack was the worst thing that ever happened to her - from his abduction as a baby to his premature death so shortly after they had found one another after all those years of separation.  This was a trauma that never healed.   They managed to keep this defining hallmark consistent throughout all of McKinsey's run - from her evening the score with Alan when she first came on the scene, to falling for Simon's grifting, to becoming Phillip's mother-surrogate to falling under Roger's spell.  But this scene really captured the essence of who Alex was - a damaged, wounded, traumatised human being who survived by her hard-as-ice queen exterior.  Unfortunately, it's forgotten when people remember McKinsey's last story, concentrating more on the sensational moments that showed Alexandra at her worst.

I have no clue.  It was early in the Nick story, when Alex was determined to prove Nick was her son when everyone else was saying it was impossible.  So perhaps it was before Mindy tampering with the DNA results?  I do remember SOD giving the scene a special mention after it aired, hailing it for the beautifully written piece of work it was as well as McKinsey's performance in it. From <https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/32166-guiding-light-discussion-thread/page/1093/#comment-2010931>

I'm not attracted to either of them...just surprised at the scene. Usually when I see the '80s scenes of Speedo guys on soaps it's more along the lines of Kelly or Ridge Forrester where they are somewhat coldly sitting or standing at poolside, rather than hanging off and all around the lighthouse. Something in the framing feels more casual but also more explicit. Add in poor Kassie Wesley also being in such tight garb (not even getting into that Mister Mxyzptlk-esque Bauer cousin), and it all feels alien to most of the GL I knew. Then again this is the period where even Johnny, whom I first knew from later clips of endlessly singing with Chelsea or just standing around looking bored or vaguely puzzled, is half-naked or packed into the tightest jeans on the rack, not to mention Rusty, Frank, etc.

So many shows, daytime and primetime, seem to think that skimpy, tight clothing and lots of male and female T&A can keep audiences invested. Nope. After an initial glance or two, that sort of thing quickly becomes irrelevant.

Mister Mxyzptlk-like is a great way to describe that jaw-dropping failure of a character, Lacey Bauer.

I must say, speaking of the tightest jeans on the rack, that honor must go to Rick Moses as Hutch, the hitman, from his days on GH. LOL.

Me either. Also never thought she was a neurotic man-eater either.

When was that ever said?  Blake is the man eater (I am sure there are others I haven't seen in the later years that were), not Alexandra.

Hold up, MZ was being checked for BITD?

I remember SOD Best of 1989 Most Intriguing Couple Roger/Holly write up described MZ as "dashing" but I never gave his looks much thought when I watched in real time. Then again, I was in middle school and high school when I watched in real time (Calhoun/Long/Curlee and first year of JFP/Curlee).

From watching online I admit MZ looked better 1989-1994 than from what I've seen of his original 1971-1980 run, but if there was glow up I somehow didn't recognize it.

In the 1970s, one of the soap mags wrote in their gossip section that they were getting a lot of mail singing Zaslow's praises and saying how sexy he was. One woman wrote that she wished TGL would put him in tighter pants without any underwear. I was surprised that comment got published...but seconded the sentiment, ROTF!

I was thinking of him while we were discussing failed soap hunks!

GH tried so hard to make him happen, putting him in a romance with saintly Rose. It totally belly-flopped. I guess they thought, "The audience accepted Laura falling for her rapist, they'll accept a professional hitman as hero, too, because he's HOT!"

Forgetting that Geary was no one's definition of "hot." While I am in NO WAY justifying the "redeemed rapist" plot, Luke was a well-defined character. He was a reluctant member of the mob who knew they would kill him whether or not he carried out the hit. I believe he was never intended to be a permanent character. It was the audience who made him happen, not the other way around.

I find that so funny, but so interesting at the same time!  I found 70s Roger way too intense, but intriguing.  I would be too scared to even say hello to him.

I am glad I bought one old SOD magazine from when Michael played David on One Life To Live.  The interviewer basically got to date Michael (she met with him for hours doing a lot of activities for like 3 different days & was at his photo shoot). She even told him how intimidating he came off and he basically said that is why he thought it was time to stop playing Roger.

Michael also said that he got burnt by the press once and does anyone know what that was about?  Was it the end of his first marriage?

I think an actor's looks can make a different in keeping my interest in a storyline. I was certainly watching Sunset Beach for the Antonio/Gabi/Richardo storyline because I found Nick Kiriazis and Hank Cheyne incredibly good looking. I'm one of the few who liked the amnesiac Michelle lusts after nuTony storyline because I thought Coltin Scott/Stephen Martines was hot. I like the Sharlene/Grant storyline because I'd go off with Dack Rambo. I'm superficial in that respect. You put an attractive man in a storyline and if he can act, I'll usually go along with it. I would have followed Carl Tye Evans anywhere.

How scary is this??  Frank Grillo (ex-Hart) was on the plane that caught fire and had emergency landing on Friday.

Wow! They only gave him a $12 voucher? I was in an emergency landing on Southwest Airlines one time and they gave me a $100 voucher. I thought THAT was adding insult to injury. This is a lot worse.

Oh man, I'm glad you're ok! What a scary experience that has to be. I have a huge fear of flying, but I'm always traveling/flying haha. It's hard.

Yeah, I'd expect way more than that.

Yikes.  That is scary.

Come to think of it, when talking about who I considered attractive on GL, I never was all that into Frank Grillo.

Ohhh I am (currently) haha. Seeing him today, I'm not as into him, but he was a looker back in the 90s. It made the Lonatrat storyline easier to get through :P

Considering what's happening now with the transportation industry, I'm surprised they didn't have Grillo pay them for the experience.

I missed Grillo when he was on GL. I was aware of him, but I never saw his work.
