If it was Robin Mattson playing Hope, then I would have liked that character to have been brought back.  If I had my way, India would have never left.

She was underage. Whether it was Alan or Brandon, it was still statutory rape.

I guess they figured after 16-17 years people wouldn't remember or didn't see the original Amanda paternity reveal, but HOW would Brandon have been so sure he was her father, if Jennifer had sex aound the same time with both of them? (Writing that sentence gave me the ick).

Again, I'm not clear on why she would be entitled to half. He had a will that was done in Barbados, right? Soap writers don't seem to realize millionaires can leave their money to a home for stray cats if they want. The will can be contested, sure, but the birth certificate proves he knew she was his daughter. If he wanted to keep her out of his will, that was his choice, just like he kept Alan out of his first will.

That was my thought, but it would be so much like Jennifer and Alan it would be hard to make "new" not that this ever bothered the writers. I can see "Lana" getting a job cleaning at the mansion (or maybe since they meet at a farm, it would be the reverse of the trope and she would be the stable girl, training horses, a strong willed Irish girl and ready to take on the snobby preppy rich boy...)

No, not really the same, because Jennifer came from a good family (apparently, Brandon did not object to Alan's engagement to her sister, so they must have been O.K. to him, socially).

Alan and NotLana didn't necessarily have to meet in Springfield. If they DIDN'T know each other in SF, it would be easy to slip their relationship in between Jennifer and his marriage to Elizabeth. They could have met in Chicago, while he was working for Henry. (A "Hey, you're from Springfield, right? This is my friend who's also from Springfield." kind of meeting).

If you roll back to the time that this would have happened (late 60s?) she could have been a kind of hippie girl, a free spirit, not only objectionable because she's working class, but also having the wrong politics and lifestyle.

Which could easily tie in to her ending up on a farm years into the future. My mom had a cousin who lived in a commune. Some of her friends from that time live on a farm in Vermont to this day.

Maybe she knew about Alan's situation with Jennifer and was afraid the same would happen to her, so she hid her own kid to keep Brandon from taking him.

I remember Mattson on GL as Hope! She was pretty booked up during the 90s, not sure if she would have been available to return.

I love MKA as India, but they never really defined her character and didn't know what to do with her unless she was blackmailing men into marrying her.

I have some insight into this absurd mass removal of accounts for "spam and etc". Many people on reddit are reporting that they got their channel removed for this. I've been a victim of it too...

There is a root cause. You need to have someone reporting your channel specifically for spam to get it down. Maybe even more than 1 person. There are these trolls on the forum boards and youtube that do that... and then the youtube faulty bot that checks the channels for spam... finds things that are definitely not spam or deceptive... and flags the channel for no reason. It could be a thumbnail that is slightly edited... but the bot could say  - Yes, it's deceptive.

I read on reddit... people telling others to be careful how they tag their videos... (excessive tags could be flagged) or how they describe their videos. People also said that sometimes youtube finds problems with the pictures that people upload as thumbnails.

So... as you get the picture - all of these small little details that should not be any problem... the AI robot has been flagging them after getting a report by any abusive tr-oll.

So the root cause is hateful trolls that gang-report channels. That's the main issue. And youtube enables this to happen. I have my own suspicions that these people are people who SELL episodes and don't want them out there for free. Some are fans that just hate other fans and etc.

In my case, I'm pretty sure my channel was taken down by Brooke Logan haters, because I had Brooke-related music videos. My channel was taken down after one particularly positive video about Brooke was sort of getting attention and hateful comments. These horrible people have found this door in the system they can abuse (reporting normal perfect channels for spam and etc) and they take channel after channel down.

That's why I recommend if you guys are uploading stuff - do not over-tag, be careful to not include unrelated to the video descriptions... even if it's a link to another video... it could be flagged as spam... and do not upload your own thumbnails. Let the automatic youtube ones... be the thumbnails.

Do this... at least till youtube fixes their problem with this faulty AI robot that flags the channels that have done nothing wrong. There are thousands of cases like this on reddit and people lose their millions subscribers for nothing.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand even be careful of the comments you post. If you usually post the same stuff like "Thank you!" many many times... on a lot of videos... it could be flagged as spam. I mean... we live in a world where I'm even scared to say "Thank you" at this point, because some stupid AI robot could detect it as spam. Repeated words and repeated emoticons in the comments section can also take your channel down if they are flagged as spam. I've read this on reddit. People have given this as examples.

I hope Blake Marler gets their channel back. I'll be keeping an eye on this situation.

Oh, my God. Some people need to get a life.

Thanks for the info. The haters are why I've hesitated to start a YT channel. (Not necessarily soap opera-related haters, just haters, period).

I have a new youtube channel which I use to post OLTL clips... This time I'm very careful. I don't put any descriptions. I don't write comments like "Thank you." and I don't put pictures as thumbnails anymore. I can't believe what I have to do... to just not get falsely flagged. It's a complete circus.

YouTube took me down twice in 10 months. That was more than I could justify in terms of starting again there for a third time. YouTube needs a drastic overhaul of their system. They need to only address entities with standing to challenge for copyright. Now anyone who makes a charge is considered bonafide. That's the first crazy thing in their system. Their mechanical (or AI) censors are far too stupid. I could go on & on for pages, but, ... ugh.  That's not even the worst of it for me. I had an electronic stalker who caused me to lose a Facebook account that I'd had for 2 decades & with it, since Meta is a very unified company, I also lost Instagram & Threads accounts.

GL writers had no clue (and never wanted to do research apparently) on how corporations and board meetings are run so they would have no clue on inheritance..etc. The only way this would have worked is if Brandon had left a will leaving ALL his assets to Amanda, and she hid that..but what we saw was a will that left what he had between Alex and Victoria.

They also had DNA testing in 95..why didnt Alan and Alex demand one then?

I like it..can you write an alternative universe GL!!! What if "NotLana" was a Vietnam war protester? You know Brandon, Master or Evil was profiting from the war...so naturally there would be a problem there. And conservative Catholic Bea would have disapproved of her war hating free loving daughter so Lana ran off, much to Bea's dismay so she never mentioned her...(and she got hers when Nola grew up.....)

Though I am now seeing NotLana and Reva, uh Rebecca getting stoned on the farm porch and I dont think I could take a stoned Reva.

No, being a pain in the ass to Alex was another of her characteristics! She just came off of ATWT but would have loved if Alan had left his holdings to India instead of Amanda in 95. Though Marj huffing and puffing woudlnt have been the same in the Alex/India match ups.

I'm trying to remember if they ever really interacted. I think they were both on the canvas in late 1998 or very early 1999 but India may have been focused on Ross at that time.

The scenes as played are Ed Wood bad...Annie...FREAKS out when she hears Josh is with Reva..throws Alan's wheel chair, hits..as Dusay was calling it, "That damn bust"  the bust breaks, and along Roger strolls in to find it? I don't mind a rewrite as their is wiggle room for Amanda to be Brandon's (Why did he think she was in the first place...) but make it exciting and make sense...why would Alex not destroy the will and why did she keep it..in that damn bust the EVERYONE walks past to make their latest  dramatic announcement...even Marj's Alex is smarter then that..Alex should have been unaware another version of the will exists, (its just like Brandon to booby trap the mansion for shits and giggles) Roger should have been on a mission to find it and he and Holly go to Barbados to investigate...(I wouldnt put it past Rog to dig Bradon up and pull the will from his skeleton hands...) and they reintroduce the black Spauldings for a future story line...(maybe they run into Vicki who Roger gives his card to.."When you get older contact me, you have potential" ) and give Rog and Holly some alone time to simmer that toxic chemistry they have, while Fletcher stews and starts hanging around Alex for answers and their relatinsonhip starts up...(I would have them leave town together.) Alex is a wreck as Alan says "More and more I think Amanda reminds me of Father, and it scares even me." Alex, "God knows whats she would do if she ever got real power!" etc. Bring Jennifer back to town, maybe on the arms of Mike Bauer, and people catch Alex and Jennifer whispering to each other..."I thought you were never going to come back.."....and "I thought I never would..this horrible house, HIS darkness still is in every corner" ( would have had it that Brandon raped Jennifer and she hid that all these years.."  Then Amanda finds out she is not only been lied to but she is child or rape..the board and the investors freeze the Spaudlings assets..leading Roger to take over...he dumps Amanda (no longer her) and the Amanda goes rogue on her own, and Phillip and Alan have to make an unsteady truce to try to pick up the pieces...(Hey, they can always take over Lewis Oil)

LOL - you're so right and what great ideas!  Would have been so much better :)

Yes, you are correct. However, this was retconned later on. There was a scene in an episode recently uploaded where Henry mentioned that Vanessa and Ross grew up in Springfield. When Ross dated Calla, they mentioned they were high school sweethearts.

The Barbados storyline revealed that Alan was born in Springfield on Founder's Day.

I mean, it kind of makes sense why they did this. With the reduced Bauer family and the invasion from Tulsa, for a while the Reardons were almost the only native Springfield core family.

I've caught mentions here and there too--when Alan's pushing the idea of marriage, he says something to Vanessa about having grown up in Springfield--I just roll my eyes.  I don't know why the writers do little tweaks that don't make a difference. Alan and Vanessa have a long, established history. What difference does it make if they grew up in Springfield? The stupid idea that Calla and Ross were high school sweethearts---blah. I caught one mention of them using the LIghthouse as a hangout---like WHAT?

I find it odd that Josh and Billy refer to HB as HB and not dad/father, but maybe that was normal for them. Anyway, loved seeing all the flashbacks - Reva/HB, Billy/HB, Josh/HB.

I'm not sure about by the time '97 rolls by, but from the beginning, all the Lewises mostly called HB, HB. Not that they wouldn't slide into "daddy" if they wanted something (or were caught acting like children), or Mindy would call him "Granddaddy HB". At first I think it was a way to illustrate that there was a distance between him and the children after Martha died. (They also usually refer to Martha as "Miss Martha", and "momma" if they were longing for her. )

Then it turned into a way of distinguishing between the three Harlan Billy Lewises. HB, Billy and Bill (or Little Billy when he was young.)

Not to mention, there were already at least two women regularly calling their fathers "daddy",  Vanessa and Mindy. Later Blake joins that group.

I would have had India stay to be the reason Roger got back what he brought into the marriage.  He helped her out, so she owed him a big favor. Plus, she had to stay to talk to the authorities about Gary and Philip. I agree that they hadn't built her character enough.  I guess the introduction of Jenna made it not possible for India to be in AC Mallet's orbit anymore and they had him in the stupid storyline with Francesca.  Ugh, I guess I see why India left.

Instead of Jenna, it should have been Alexandra and connections with Alan that helped hide Hart. Although, I think that character was a waste as he was re-casted so many times and gone for 2 years...I wouldn't have created him.

Speaking of India, I have long thought that she and Holly should have started a business together....perhaps when Holly was ousted from WSPR and went over to the Journal.

I think India and Holly would be phenomenal working together.  Imagine the love of words the two share!  India with her penchant for European commentary and HolIy with her Latin.  I'd make them fast friends.  Kinda like Donna and Ginger, but much more sophisticated.  Holly never had a female friend, so she'd be entering new territory here.

MLH:  Was it you that thought that maybe Hart should have been killed off when Jeff Phillips left the show?  Fascinating idea.  Would sure mess with Roger's psyche and spiral Blake out of control from a deep sense of guilt.

Thanks :) I guess that makes sense, I actually have a great friend from West Texas who calls his mother by her first name all the time, so it tracks haha. Close enough to Oklahoma...

And they took the cue from Dallas. HB and Billy (at the beginning) use "Miss Vanessa" a fair amount. Reva usually calls her that when she's irritated with her, or trying to paint her as a snob.

I don't recall anyone ever calling Reva "Miss Reva" though....go figure. lol

Watching 1988, it seems Kim started getting the "Eileen Fulton" credit. As in being credited last as in  (separated by a space from the preceeding cast member or dayplayer) and the "and ... Reva Shayne....Kim Zimmer".

The other thing about '88....Meredith seemed like she was toadying up to Phillip from early on. She seems to be the only one who understood Phillip's takeover and thought it was hunky-dory.

I just plain like the actress, here & on ATWT, but never felt I got as much of her as I would've liked.

This is one of my Stunt: Recast Reveals where she is featured.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DMRT9PSJgve/

This I call a stunt. This one is ATWT & one actor is playing a character who is on a date with another character & flirting & getting to know one another & some kissing & halfway through the actor changes! Recast Reveal Stunt!

For your edification, that is called "preferential treatment in billing", not to be confused with star billing or billing above or before the title.  And, it is a contract item.
