If writers are going to give a nod to the past, at least they should make a nominal effort to research it.

At this moment, there are big arguments happening on SM about the correct level of handsomeness required for Mr. Darcy in Pride & Prejudice and the correct level of ugliness required for Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre. This is because of new adaptations coming out soon.

There are those making fun of both discussions...but these are actually VERY important character details in the respective books. They matter to the story and reveal a lot about their protagonists.

And don't even get me started on the newest adaptation of Wuthering Heights...

The point is:

DETAILS MATTER.

The fact that we're still upset about how they messed around with GL history almost 20 years after it went off the air shows how important they are.

Thanks for the explanation of how the name came to be. I didn't know she was named by Cassie. It still seems odd to me to name her that of all names.

I found the scene where Danny and Michelle agree to keep Hope's name as is. The explanation feels a bit flat. I actually felt more for Cassie.

Thanks so much for finding and posting this.

Yes, it does feel flat.

But I just realized--Cassie had the most incredibly bad luck with her children! Tammy died, her kid with Richard died (because EDMUND deliberately killed it, but he still became her boyfriend because, whatevs), the kid she adopted with Richard was taken from her (some succession BS to do with San Christohell), and now Hope was taken away from her, too.

The only kid she ended up with was R.J.

Did the writers ever stop to think, hey, maybe we should stop killing and taking away her kids? Maybe we could think of a different kind of story for her?

It's terrible but it's also making me laugh because someone mentioned that Larkin Malloy left the show because he didn't want to do another baby story.

That's a good point. GL kept taking Cassie's kids from her, but then you had Reva getting a new kid every few years.

Her San Cristobel kid, Will, did return as a mini psycho. I think he was a 7-year-old terrorizing Springfield, and maybe killed Edmund. I saw some clips and lost interest.

Laura Wright saw the writing on the wall and got out of there. Although, I wish she could've played the scenes of grieving Tammy's death. She was such a Momma bear in that role and that underdog heroine who had chemistry with almost everyone.

I'm surprised Laura never won any Emmys for her role as Cassie.

Lee Lawson at about 8 minutes. A shame they never let her have any of this type of verve as Bea as it would make sense for Nola's mother.

WNEW Commercials - April 23, 1968 (+ highlights from The New Yorkers) - YouTube

Not to mention, the ability to raise 7 Irish kids after her husband disappeared and converted her house to make end's meet. Originally Marland wrote her tougher, but it was more stepping on Nola's dreams, and Long got wrote her as the loving non judgemental mom... I wish they brought her back as a combo of both..a tough woman who was everyone's mom down inside.

She looks so much like MH it is scary, I wish they brought her back for a guest appearances just to see them together.

Some know that I love a music montage at the end haha. For me, that's so weird seeing Cassie involved so closely in Danny/Michelle's orbit! And I just looked and it seems like this is one of Laura Wright's last episodes, since she left in November of that year - interesting!

LOL...in the dictionary beside "meh", is a pic of Nancy St. Alban.

Y'know, because i just had to WTF about a Gus/Beth scene, whatever's going on....it's disturbing to see Beth slither around him like a snake.

Ugh, ugh, ugh: "I don't regret my marriage with Alan."

Well, the rest of us do, honey.

Didn't Gus know at this point he was Alan's son? It seems to me that was revealed around the time of the (puke) Maryanne Carruthers storyline, which was in 2004, I'm PRETTY sure.

Boy, looks like they had a really warm relationship.

I recall nothing of Gus---other than I found him annoying and thought he ruined Harley. Is Beth looking to [!@#$%^&*] him? Is she screwing Harley over because she's getting off on it? At Alan's bidding? I don't know.

I can’t remember when it happened, but I have vague memories of them putting Cassie/Danny in business together and they became pretty close as a clear chem test and I was hoping for the pairing since the NSA as Michelle recast was so flat. Alas, it ended up going nowhere as a pairing.

Thanks for posting that. I'd never seen it. Nice to see that Hope got at least a mention towards the end. As brief as it was.
