@DRW50 That I don't know, but I thought P&G carrying contracts would explain the actors moving among the shows.

It could, yes.

I may be wrong but I recall Tom Eplin. who moved from AW to ATWT immediately upon AW's cancellation, had a contract outside of AW-with P&G itself. Am I correct or did ATWT just take on Jake (and others briefly) to try and attract AW viewers looking for a new show.

In the case of the Texas actors moving to GL, I don't think there were any contracts involved. Rather it was Gail Kobe/Pam Long creating new characters and using actors they knew from the previous show.

This happens when producers/writers move to a new show. Doug Marland used a number of GL performers when he went to ATWT eg Lisa Brown, Rita Lloyd, Greg Beecroft etc

The rumor was that Eplin signed a pay or play contract, knowing that AW was in danger. That's why he wound up at ATWT. Sigh---GL could've had him. I did not like him.

There was a lot of shared actors between the P&G shows through the years. Yes, Marland used a lot of people from GL (Shipp, Brown, Beecroft, Hendrickson to name a few) but Maeve and Kathleen Widdoes were both on AW; Bev of course, Anna Stuart did GL/AW/ATWT, and Rebecca Hollen did ATWT/GL/AW then back to ATWT.

Mark Pinter was GL, then ATWT, AW and back as a new character on GL.

James Rebhorn was on GL, then ATWT, then back to ATWT as a different character for an episode or two in 2010.

Personally, I liked Jake and Molly on ATWT. I watched AW from 85-90, so seeing that character again was a blast from the past. Cass was my favorite AW character-- he represented Carmen Santos for an episode or two. Cass Winthrop (AW, ATWT, GL) was right up there with Mitchell Dru (The Brighter Day, As the World Turns, Another World).
