Members Contessa Donatella
Bunim & Lemay traded insults. She didn't think his scenes were sexy enough. I forget what Pete's rejoinder was. I think something along the lines of her not being able to recognize a good writer.
Members Paul Raven
A thought- when LOL was cancelled SFT could have hired Ann Marcus, who had written for the show before and surely would have done a better job than Grover/Porterfield. I wonder if AM would have been interested?

Members Paul Raven
re Jo and her sister Eunice. Probably too far back for anyone to know for sure, but was Eunice a creation of the Hursley's and never mentioned before? The show had been going 7 or 8 years by the time Eunice showed up. Had a sister been mentioned in that time or was it a case of Jo suddenly talking about her, and then her turning up? Giving Jo a sibling was a smart move as it opened up more story for her, but it might have seemed odd at the time for our heroine to have had a sister we never knew about. Perhaps it was discussed that she and Jo were so different and hardly kept in touch or some such explanation. Members VelekaCarruthers
Watching these and I remember watching live when they aired. Tomlin/Whitesell had a firm hand from the beginning and the show looked good. Writing was solid until they decided to do the flood which was totally unnecessary waste. Then, P&G was so wowed with Whitesell they moved him over to AW and fired Tomlin (after six months) to give Pam Long an assignment before she was ready to return to GL (after her divorce and birth of second child I believe). Of course, Whitesell quit AW after two years to go to Hollywood. It always pissed me off that they gave him a chance to EP two shows at age 33 or so and overlooked women like Hope Harmel Smith, Susan Dansby, Mary Bonner, Charlotte Weil (OLTL) and Leslie Kwartin. If they had kept Tomlin/Whitesell through to the end of SFT it would have gone out with more dignity. Long's SFT was uninspired.
Members Vee
I wouldn't begin to know who to tag on this beyond @dc11786 @Paul Raven @VelekaCarruthers and @DRW50, but this looks like a big deal. There's two of these so far. Please register in order to view this content
Members DRW50
Thanks @Vee ! I remember someone here, maybe @vetsoapfan , mentioning that a bunch of 1966 episodes used to be on Youtube (I guess from the same batch of GL episodes). I had never seen them. Glad they have appeared. Really appreciate you tagging me. @slick jones you might need these as well for your lists.
Members Joseph
Please register in order to view this content I remember reading somewhere on this thread that it was a mystery if Stephanie and Estelle (Her substitute) ever appeared together in a scene, apparently they did! So I'm sharing because maybe this still interests someone
Members SoapDope
The 1986 episode are fun so far. How long before Robert Reed takes over the role of Lloyd ? Did he stay till the end of the show ? I'm surprised Reed took a soap role but he must have doing a play around this time in NY and accepted. He was so good on the Brady Bunch but in most other roles he comes across pissy.
Members Wendy
Didn't know Reed took a soap role. But I remember he played a corrupt judge that was into Satanism on Hunter a year or so after this. A shame he died so young.
Members DRW50
I thought Joe Lambie was just great on Edge of Night - it's a shame his Search role never worked out. I'm not sure how you go from him to Robert Reed. Then again, I'm not sure how you go from Sherry Mathis to Louan Gideon. So much of those last few years it seems like you have to wade through iffy recasts. I guess that's another reason the writers found it easier to focus on the McClearys. Members SoapDope
I agree. All the recasts makes your head spin especially if there are long gaps between episodes.
Members Paul Raven
@Vee thanks for the tag. I was hoping these episodes would be posted. I recall one from this era many years ago. Juliant Funt/David Lesan were headwriters. They introduced Sam/Len/Andrea. We also see Ken Kercheval take over from Burr De Benning as Nick. And Susan Seaforth in a Mr Clean commercial!
Members Mona Kane Croft
First time I've ever seen Dr Bob Rogers' home. I didn't even realize his home was ever on camera on SFT. I'm assuming after Emily was written off, Dr Bob Rogers sort of became nothing more than "a doctor when they needed one." If I am incorrect, someone please set me straight.
Members Paul Raven
@Mona Kane Croft Yes, I think after Emily left Bob just became a talk to for Jo and others. There was always a bit of hospital drama and doctors in the cast eg Gary so Bob would be seen in that capacity. He seemed to be on contract throughout the 70's b/c it was announced in 79 I think that he went recurring. He continued to be seen occasionally. Not sure when he was last seen. Would have been nice if he was there in the final weeks.
