Oh, between today and tomorrow's US show it seems clear that's where we are going with all of this. Rafe loves him some Adam. Since Adam is using Heather, he has some open options.

I don't think they'd make both Adam and Phillip bi or gay. If the story is with Adam, I don't think he'll be sexually interested in Rafe, he'll just be using Rafe in his schemes.

Almost but not quite enough to make me reconsider my CBS boycott aside from the P&G soaps.

Neat news, John Driscoll is a great actor and it should be interesting for him to be playing a gay character. Y&R may be giving him the juicy material he didn't get enough of at GL until the end. I got the feeling from his blog that he had for awhile that he was really religious though, so I hope homosexuality is not against his religious beliefs and he will be convincing rather than holding back.

I also take back what I said before about Y&R just having a "token gay character" now, as clearly they intend more than that.

This is exactly right! I think Phillip will be introduced as a closet case who "tries a little too hard" with the ladies. Furthermore, Rafe should currently be getting more airtime. How about they let Rafe go out on some dates; you know, kiss a few frogs before he meets his prince (presumably Phillip). They can even use Adam as one of those frogs. Adam pretends to be interested in Rafe to achieve something he wants. He leads Rafe on big time!

This'll sound awful, but I was thinking the same: "Keeping him quiet by keeping his mouth busy". I know that is awful...but a true villain would do just that. JR Ewing used to do that with girls all the time...distract 'em with his Texan love.

Someone needs to write some Y&R fan fiction! Why is it there are a zillion stories about stupid GH but none about Y&R?

In order for a gay storyline to really work on this show, you need the ability to create a triangle, so that means Rafe will have to have two men he could potentially fall for. If Phillip IV is gay/bi and destined for Rafe, it would add so much to the story if Adam is used as a spoiler, whether he's sincere in his affections or playing games.

I don't think this is going to be a gay story. A straight man is probably using a gay man to help him in his plans against other people. I'm not even sure if Rafe will be around after this story, he doesn't really seem to have any strong ties to the show, and he's not that memorable.

But he's cute. I hope he develops into contract-worthy status.

I can see them keeping Rafe around in a small capacity, perhaps, especially if Heather is eventually written out, but it's not going to be easy to move on from not only being the only gay character on the show, but also being in the thrall of one of the most negatively written, dark characters on the show. I'm reminded of Matt on OLTL, who had some promise, if they had bothered, as a young gay character in some supporting or semi-lead capacity, but was then turned into the secret lover of a serial killer, and was never heard from again.

You're right though, anything can happen. I'm just sorry for what Adam had to be.
