Members DRW50
I think Judith would have had a much stronger position than Susan Harney, but I know Susan's primetime success was probably the reason they asked her back.
Members Efulton
Agreed. I never saw Judith Barcroft as Lenore and I would have been very happy to see her during the 25th anniversary episodes. I was always interested when the show used characters and actors from the past - even those I had no connection to.

Members Contessa Donatella
Basically just a "Me Too" post as I, too, always had an interest in actors & characters whether I had personally watched them or not. Also, Alice talked about Frankie's death, which I found quite interesting & learned some things. (I would've done this as an Edit & just added to the original post, but, since that's a nice thing we no longer get to have, this is it.)
Members chrisml
I was looking for information about Michael Laibson's time on GL, but I came across this interview he gave about his time on AW and why he never told a "gay" storyline on the show. I thought it might be of interest. Please register in order to view this content

Members Xanthe
It looks like an excerpt from the book Her Stories by Elana Levine. Thanks, @chrisml. I have the book on my Kindle but haven't looked into it much. Anything else interesting you have found?
Members Contessa Donatella
That is one of my favorite books! Her explanation and exploration of the network expansion is better than anyone, well, except perhaps my own. She does not go into AW's 90 minute experiment, at all, but, besides that, except for a paragraph from Pete Lemay, she covers it 100% 4x4square, ... She has a bias, but that's because she became a fan of GH at a tender age. You know the AWHP doc abt the creation of AW, she did part of the reporting on that story. I'll try to think what else is a highlight. She's another person I email with on occasion. It's not in the book but she agrees that Lin Bolen IS Diana in NETWORK. Members chrisml
It's hard to find a lot of sources about the soaps because many of the magazines are no longer in print or do not have archives. For instance, I find several mentions of a TV guide column by Michael Logan where he praises Laibson for saving AW and then claims Laibson is going to save GL from cancellation after the "disastrous" (Logan's supposed term not mine) end to JFP's term as EP. However, I can't find the article.
Members Contessa Donatella
Some of his stuff is archived. TV Guide Magazine, I think is what includes some of his stuff. Of course over time he wrote for so many different media outlets.
Members Contessa Donatella
Please register in order to view this content Have any of you ever seen this temp Iris? It was new to me. She was okay, I guess.
Members watson71
Carole Shelley took the temp recast of Iris in early 1980 after Beverlee McKinsey had a fall at her home and was injured. Shelley was an accomplished actress with Broadway and Hollywood credits. The timing of her playing Iris was awkward because it occurred at the conclusion and aftermath of Janice Frame trying to kill Mac in St. Croix. I’m sure that McKinsey would have played the scenes differently. Shelley was a little over the top when Brian recaps what happened in St. Croix to her Iris and Willis Frame.
Members Xanthe
I recently learned that she was the original Madame Morrible in Wicked on Broadway.
