Yes, a policy against awarding posthumous Emmys seems strange.  I'm surprised they haven't come-up with some way to recognize deceased persons who have contributed to the daytime genre -- especially since the Daytime Emmys only began around 1972-73 (is that correct?) -- and soap-operas were flourishing so many decades before that.   So Irna Phillips will never receive an Emmy?  Santos Ortega will never receive an Emmy?   Charita Bauer will never receive an Emmy? Beverlee McKinsey will never receive an Emmy?  Jeeze-Louise!  Something needs to be done about that. . .

He said that there is an exception & that is when the person dies between the time the decision is made & the award presented. Charita Bauer does have a Posthumous Emmy & that must be what happened in her case. 

You know Agnes got every award that can be given & Bill Bell did okay, too, but Irna basically has nothing. I think there's a street named after. Otherwise, bupkus.

And, I believe the first Daytime Emmy was in '74 but I could be wrong. I'm not looking it up. I do know it was THE DOCTORS.

I was wondering if that meant that a performer could not be nominated for an award the same year that they died.  For example, Douglas Watson was nominated for the 16th annual Daytime Emmys, which were broadcast in June 1989, although he died in May 1989.

But, the awards were for episodes produced between March 1988 and March 1989.  So, I guess he couldn't have been nominated for his final episode on 5/10/1989 the next year?

At the same time, any award show is meant to be a promotional opportunity, (rather than a legitimate acknowledgment of talent).  So, I understand the desire to highlight shows and actors that are still on air.

Eddie Drueding's uploads have now covered pretty much all of Crystal Gayle's appearances. Still one of the most fascinating celebrity guest stints on a soap for me. She was never an actress, yet she agreed to do a whole week of episodes that involved violence and high drama. Given how devout she was, I'm surprised she was OK with the material, but it was certainly great promotion for her at a time when her mainstream career was winding down. Due to her status she probably ends up being the toughest opponent the Sin Stalker ever faced.

Speaking of the Sin Stalker, I'm not sure if I'd feel that way if I didn't know he passed away a few years later, but David O'Brien looks so frail to me. It makes the story even more difficult to believe. 

Petronia Paley really sparkles in those last days of Quinn's romance with Zack. I think the worst part for me is knowing none of that story would have even happened if they weren't killing Quinn off.

I hadn't realized just how heavily they went into grand passion and romance for Michael and Donna after Philece's debut - it feels much more Harlequin than Anna's Donna and Michael ever did. I guess they were hoping to capitalize on Philece's DAYS popularity but it's all so generic. 

I also didn't know Landry's Nicole never even got an exit. Peter and Nicole never got the respect or exploration they could have had as characters.

That was Kim Morgan Greene. Landry was the singing Nicole - tall, brunette, a bit matronly.

I should probably try to watch more of the late '86 episodes to see how far they went.

I often wondered that too.  VW probably thought, hey this is not my job to work as a consultant to ensure the history is written.  Who knows, maybe she does not even remember some of the history.  She may not be a die hard fan history person like we are.  She is there just to portray her role.  I have seen interviews on some podcasts with multiple actors from tv shows when they talk about the history of episodes they can't recall facts such as characters or sometimes who the actor even was.  Fans know though.  

He was in foster care and then eventually went to go live with Gwen & Willis in Australia.

I don't recall any Frames living on a farm in BC.  The historical Frame home in BC is the house Steve built for Alice.  There was talk when Jason came back that Emma owned the Frame farm and Jamie talked to Lisa about all his relatives being there but it was just poor writing history.  Suddenly Chadwell was BC

Makes sense.  I think they wanted Swajeski as she would possibly attract a different vision.  Younger people.  AW at that time was so low in the ratings but I thought or remembered even reading when Michael Liasbon (spelling) was hired as EP, his premise was to bring the show back to its roots and even stating back to the basics and referring the Frames and the Corys which would have made sense bringing Lemay into the scope. It was nearing the 25th anniversary and they were digging back into the past.  Of course the EP words can only go so much as what the network and NBC really wanted. I do also suspect the Lemay may have been a bit difficult to work with.  He's a talented great writer but also seems to have a bit of an ego
