Members Wendy
Debated on whether to post this video but then figured what the heck. Someone revisits the site of Anne Heche's accident (which now appears to be under renovation/construction). But I am posting because, following that, her final resting place is pointed out. It is still not marked but will probably be in time. Anne is buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery per the video, not far from Mickey Rooney's final resting place. Members Contessa Donatella
Okay, I thought I would post this since you had posted that, ... The last movie Anne worked on before her death has been released. Joey Lawrence & his wife talk about it & about working with her in this article. https://www.newsbreak.com/news/2911187024161/joey-lawrence-and-wife-samantha-cope-open-up-about-working-with-anne-heche-exclusive?noAds=1&_f=app_share&s=i16 Of course I will add that the movie she made, WILDFIRE, about the Cherokees, the horse & the song from the 80s, has not been released, still. There is an article on Anne's new book & on Anne in the new PEOPLE. I have not checked the website to see if there's an article there. Members Paul Raven
Tom Eplin 3 marriages, 2 daughters from a 3rd marriage that lasts 5 years. He must think he's a soap character. Don't know her marriage history but wouldn't you think twice about marrying someone who's already wed twice? And as it turns out, they divorce after 5 years. And 2 children have to deal with that.
Members Contessa Donatella
He literally seems to have an amazing facility for marrying beautiful women. But he apparently lacks any facility to stay married. And that doesn't even count some beautiful woman he's had long-term relationships with where they did not ultimately marry. I shouldn't talk about him. I just think he's had, like, a dozen relationships with beautiful women & it sorta seems like he's been blessed with more than his fair share. It's sort of fascinating. I'll shut up now.

Members Sapounopera
I have been watching some 1980 episodes and it is not as bad as I remembered from watching a few years back. (I can't watch 1981 because of the new intro, which I hate) All that poor show needed was some stability. I adore the Cory Publishing crowd and love the scenes at Miranda Bishop's home. Young Sally could be their Laura. Ada's kitchen and Jim with Aunt Liz, give the show such a warm feeling. There was no need for a revamp in 1981, 1982, 1983 and so on.

Members DRW50
My main memory of those episodes is just finding the show incredibly dull. I do think that Miranda could have worked with better writing, rather than trying to make her a new Iris.
Members Contessa Donatella
I cannot remember who began to HW when Pete left. Have to look it up. Maybe Tom King. But, I just figure that with Pete leaving the first sign of slippage in the ratings they would have predictably panicked. And, panic tends to bring CHANGE! Let me go look that up. AW Mon., Mar. 5, 1979 2:30-4 1 hr to 90 min. When Lemay could not stand writing the 90 min. show is when he quit AW. It was Fred Silverman's idea & Paul Rauch jumped on it agreeing with Silverman. He & Pete fought, bitterly. AT first Pete stayed even though he was against it, but then he became exhausted & quit & wrote his scathing book. AW Mon., Aug. 4, 1980 2-3 bk to 1 hr. Yes, Tom King & then Soderburg joined him as co-HW. Edited February 7, 2023 by Tonksadora more info
Members Mona Kane Croft
Tom King did a relatively good job writing for Lemay's existing characters. But King's new characters were terribly ill conceived, and his writing for them was awful. Had King been smart, he would not have written-off so may of Lemay's characters. King eventually dedicated at least one fourth of the cast to badly written crime drama, which did not fit the style of Another World. All soaps occasionally do crime plots, but King over-did it, plus the plots were not compelling. And for some reason, the next two or three head-writers continued with the bad crime stuff.
Members Contessa Donatella
One of my guys on my Team thinks that P&G directed him to write those crime dramas specifically to mimic what GH was doing. He also said the first was good & then they were ... I believe his exact word was godawful. For some reason I cannot remember them! D'oh. How long till Catlin & Sally? Or is it Jake & the Loves next? As you can see, I am turned around. Please register in order to view this content On 2-5-1991 Vicky was on the stand impersonating Marley. Cass did not know he was questioning Vicky. Marley had lied to Vicky & told her no rape occurred. Marley had been truthful with Cass that Jake had raped her. Marley admitted in court that Jake had raped her. Afterward, in her anger, Vicky destroyed the first women's restroom she came to. Thanks to Another World Memories on #SoapTwitter! I believe all of this is on her Emmy reel that she won with. Members j swift
While I agree that the writing in 1980 did not match the prior regime, but I would argue that the conception of new citizens of Bay City was intriguing. Having a character based on the story of Patty Hearst was unique. The idea of a character hiding from her past is a soap staple, but a nurse who is actually an heiress that had experienced a kidnapping attempt is unique. Of course, it is ridiculous that after trying to change her name, the entire family would follow her to town, but I particularly liked Rick and his romance with Marianne. I also enjoyed the Cecile/Pat feud at Brava. It was one of the only times that Cecile was written as smart and conniving. And, I think it was good writing to use their feud as the introduction of the Harry Must Die book which became the clue in Janice's plot to poison Mac. Given that Iris was being spun off to Texas, I think Miranda was good substitute. She was well placed to be a rival for Mac's affection as well as a plaything for the nefarious Philip Lyons. Also, Jason's relationship with Tracy was interesting and it is the only role that I enjoyed as played by smarmy-guy-specialist Warren Burton It is one of those times in soap history when it is hard to pinpoint the cause of the issue because with the change in tone from Lemay, the loss of Willis and Iris, and the increased competition from OLTL it became a big ship to readjust. It was still an adult oriented soap, which I appreciate, even though there were heightened story elements that were uncharacteristic. It may be that I am a Tom King apologist (as well as a Lemay fan), but I think there is a lot of blame to spread all around at the time, and it wasn't just King's fault. Members Paul Raven
Maybe if Tom King only had to write for a 60 min show, things might have been different. But the 90 min format was simply unworkable.
Members Xanthe
Sally started seeing Peter in the first half of 1983, and then Donna was introduced. That led to the reveal of Kevin Thatcher as Sally's son and her engagement to David after Peter dumped her and David's wife died. On a parallel track the same year Blaine's tormentor Alma Rudder was murdered. Blaine and Larry's mother Jeanne had come to town and they (at least Blaine and Clarice) found her very trying. Jeanne was taken ill and Larry found evidence that she had been injured when she fought with Alma and her wound had become fatally infected. On her deathbed she confessed that she had another son, Catlin. He arrived in Bay City under the alias Josh Peterson in early 1984 around the time Blaine and Sandy's son Alex was born. Catlin and Sally were all the rage for most of 1984. Early 1985 was the Introduction of Brittany and then Mary Page Keller was replaced by Taylor Miller in July 1985. Jake and Victoria were introduced in early 1985.
