Nancy St. Alban Returns to GL

One of GL's most beloved couples finally comes home! Hot on the heels of Paul Anthony Stewart's upcoming return as Danny, Soap Opera Digest has learned that Nancy St. Alban will reprise the role of Michelle Bauer, which she took over in 2000, in late May. She was last seen on-screen in 2005. Plans for a recast were scrapped in light of the show's cancellation. GL reached out to the actress to reprise her role.

Well, the might as well bring back the craptastic last actress to play the role now, since the show won't be around in a new months anyway, but St. Alban was never good in that role, and certainly didn't grow as an actress during her time with the show.

Ugh, I hated her Michelle

Why?

OK, if GL is ending, and they want to have Michelle back with her family (I still don't know if Danny's going to be permanent or be killed off a la Joe Novak), fine, but I really wish they could have found a different actress. Her Michelle was so cold and smug.

It's pretty sad how miscast this core character has been since the great Rachel Miner left/was fired. As I said before, it's just tragic how no one ever brought so much emotional dept and maturity to the role that Rachel Miner brought, and she played the kid version of Michelle!

I liked Bethany Joy Galeotti in the role.

Good God, they couldn't find someone, ANYONE else? Rebecca Budig? Someone?

I mean, Michelle is an important character, I don't mind them bringing on a Bauer, but damn I hated her Michelle.

I really don't even think it would be that difficult to recast Michelle because, as mentioned, there's been no definitive Michelle since 1995. I thought Joie Lenz did some very strong work and she had huge star quality but I never saw her as Michelle. Budig and Alban, even less so.

Haha..this is laughable. Only at GL this would happen. Thank Gawd we wont have to put up with Alban's Michelle too long with the cancellation of the show.

And I agree, Y&RWorldTurner. Rachel Miner rocked as Michelle. Probably the best one they ever had.

I remember being really little and hoping she and Bryan Buffington would grow up on the show together and that their characters would end up falling in love.

Since GL is half script and half breakdown, let's hope St. Alban has learned the art of subtlety since she's been away. No more "Night You Did Me In The Rear" whisper moments, PLEASE!

Rachel Miner looked SO MUCH like Peter Simon, that was brilliant casting by the great Betty Rea.

I would be more enthusiastic if Danny was, shall we say, dead and Michelle was coming back alone (where she could then take Bill from that twit Lizzie). But now I'm just meh. It does make sense to choose St. Alban, the last actress to play her, instead of a recast considering how long the show has. I was just hoping her return wouldn't make the Mannyacs happy.

Obviously the correct thing to do in light of what is going on.

Good job GL...too bad all the right moves are being made at the end of the show.
