OLTL: Discussion for the Week of March 23rd

OLTL is just escapist entertainment right now. Excellent performances and terrible ones. The show feels more contemporary than any other show. Which is good and bad.

That sounds fair. But the show is really quite capable of grabbing an outsider right now...it plays well to the passerby.

Good! Even though I generally hate it more than love it, it will always be my favorite soap. I would love it to grab more viewers and finally become ABC's top rated soap and settle in to a permanent 4th place in the ratings. The show deserves it.

Haven't posted on here in ages, but I agree. I flipped to SoapNet the other night just for the hell of it and found myself watching the entire OLTL marathon and I've never been interested in the show before. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

I think the show's definitely good now at grabbing the casual viewer. I think Higley, for her first year or so, was also good at this, then her uglier instincts took over. Ron seems more balanced, but I still think as long as they continue to have John, Todd, Gigi, Starr, Stacy center stage, they're ruining some of their potential.
