Y&R: Week of March 23, 2009

Time to add Raven Whitney's two cents about March plotting on Y&R. I'm on the fence about March. On the one hand I've tuned in, excitedly, each and every March day, because the acting is so fierce. And I love love Katherine. I watched this show since the beginning. But the March plotting has been so heavy handed (very Hogan, very screenwriterish). They've thrown every curve ball. People sleeping together unexpectedly (Jill/Jeff, Sharon/Billy), diseases (Jana's brain, Adam's blindness), pregnancy (Ash), affairs (Neil/Tyra). It feels as if the writers went on a retreat before penning March and decided where they wanted to be in April and just moved the chess pieces around in each episode. I like most of the individual beats (Kevin's stokholm syndrome etc, Adam's blindness and that fabulous flashback to when he was born and blindness was discussed). But it all feels way too rushed and has my head spinning. They need to slow way down now and tell some of the beats in Bill Bell style. But overall, it's the only daytime soap on the air worth watching. Sorry OLTL folks...that show is part Passions and part Santa Barbara and it's not going to fare well in the long run unless they slow it down too and sink into two or three very compelling stories..

Jess Walton and Eric Braeden work so well off of each other. But I don't want a Jill/Victor pairing, it just wouldn't be right.

Why not?

Why not?

I wouldn't want Jill to morph into another subservient bitch for Victor. Because you know, every woman he's with has to loose some integrity. God forbid someone is his equal. Jill is too good for that.

Me neither. He's got his hands full with the other two.

When Katherine proves she's Katherine, all of this will go back to her. Jill will no longer be in control, and Katherine doesn't have to keep Cane, since he's no longer related to her.

Victor knew what he was doing by giving Jill that deal. He screwed her over good.

Of course; Victor would NEVER give up on something that he has so easily. He gave it away to Jill waaay too easy.

Jill's going to be so pissed. Can't wait!

Me too. :P

I wonder why she wouldn't think twice before accepting that; she should be clever enough to know Victor always has something in plan. I guess she was just power hungry.

She desperately wants Jabot back and to stick it to Jack and Ashley.

When Katherine gets Jabot back, Jill's sure to get a good kick in the ass.

I really do see Katherine giving Jabot back to the Abbott's, mainly to stick it to Jill and wash her hands of it.

I fully expect it of Katherine. :) I believe Kay said it herself that she will make sure Jill pays when she proves her identity.

Plus Kay has Chancellor and she'll probably want time with Murphy or something.

It's so good that Cane can no longer claim Katherine as his "grandma." She no longer owes anything to his ass, and he'll probably side with Jill, so Katherine has no reason to like him.

I hope in the future they set out to prove Cane isn't Jill's son, but not now, especially after this storyline, it would be too much.

Yes, yes, yes.

Well there were rumors that Cane will turn out not to be what everyone thought he was, but that was probably just his easygoing attitude changing to a baby-grabbing idiot.

But it would be too much, most definitely. The worst mistake in the history of the soap was corrected, that's all that matters at the moment.

I have to say, the Katherine storyline took an amazing direction when Nikki and Victor got involved. Love that included so many characters, even if some characters had other storylines going on.
