The four who wrote that article got what they wanted, which was Donald Trump back in office; so, now, I'm gonna politely ask them to leave Joe Biden the [!@#$%^&*] alone.

ny times on biden’s enablers

Thanks for sharing the free link.

You can see how seriously a lot of Democrats have taken shutting out that paper because there are few scoops in this - in no time it turns to a recap.

I do think Biden should have retired after his first term, but sad to say I don't really think any Democrat would have beaten Trump this year. They should ask themselves why instead of blaming Biden.

ICAM!!

This election proved John Edwards correct: the Democratic Party has lost touch with the working class.  It's gonna take another Bill Clinton to bring them back.

I disagree. Harris lost by something like 150,000 votes in swing states. If people truly believe that she lost because too many people didn't want to vote for a Black woman then it's time to also admit that Joe Biden would've gotten those votes.

Nobody wants to admit it but this race was lost the minute George Clooney dropped his column.

Joe Biden was the new Bill Clinton.

He walked a picket line to show support for the working class and also paid off student loans which was supposed to endear him to progressives. In the end he was betrayed and abandoned by white voter. From left to right, they took his work and voted to destroy the country anyway.

Israel-Hamas hostage/ceasefire agreement January 15, 2025
Multiple news agencies reporting this, including Times of Israel, Reuters, AP, BBC, theguardian, SkyNews;
and also officials from Qatar and officials from Israel.
(Netanyahu still denying it's true)

Biden's team has been in Qatar working on this.

Trump is boasting about this . . . because why? Because he's Trump.

The newsfeed keeps updating every few minutes on this, I can't keep up.

Times of Israel says that a ceasefire and hostage deal has been reached and reports that the US, Qatar and Egypt will shortly issue a joint statement.

Three US officials and a Hamas official have confirmed to Associated Press that a ceasefire deal has been reached.

One US official said that it was expected that the ceasefire would be implemented in the coming days.

From TheGuardian: The US president, Joe Biden, is preparing to address the breakthrough agreement on Thursday, officials said.

There are already people celebrating in the streets in both Gaza and Tel Aviv.

The Israeli government will vote on a Gaza ceasefire deal on Thursday, a government official told Reuters.  Any agreement still needs to be approved by Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet, but would be expected to go into effect in the coming days.

(fyi: This is all updating very fast. But the time you read this, most of the information in this post will be outdated.)

The ceasefire is scheduled to begin
Sunday, 19 January, 2025
Sunday 19 Jan. at 8:30 am Israel/Gaza time,
Sunday 19 Jan. at 6:30 am London UK time,
Sunday 19 Jan. at 1:30 am New York time,
Saturday 18 Jan. at 10:30 pm Los Angeles time.

Just NO to this:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jan/17/trump-inauguration-guest-list

The Village People, whose 1978 hit YMCA is a staple of Trump rallies and Mar-a-Lago gatherings, to perform at two inaugural events.

The band’s lead singer, Victor Willis, issued an almost apologetic explanation, saying its members would perform despite having supported Harris’s presidential bid.

“We believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics,” he wrote on Facebook. “Our song YMCA is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost.”

Snoop Dog just performed at a Trump pre-inauguration party event.
What? Yes he did. He'll do whatever for money/attention, apparently.

Nelly is slated to perform at one of the inaugural balls.

Now you see why Phylicia Rashad won't talk about him, lol.

Brace yourself, because it's only going to get worse, as more and more celebrities decide it's better to appeal to Trump supporters than to continue the resistance.  Like I said upthread, the "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!" mentality has officially taken over.

OMG! What a statement. It almost makes me want to cry, lament these times we live in. When the lead singer of the very gay YMCA singing group has to say something like this, it's just too sad for words.

Joe Biden was the new Bill Clinton.

In some ways, yes.

Biden's shared Clinton's ability to speak to the working class and to bridge the gap between moderates and progressives, who've been fighting over the direction of the Democratic Party pretty much since Carter.  Even as Obama's running mate, however, Biden had the baggage of being a longtime D.C. politician.

Conversely, when Clinton burst upon the scene, in '92 or so, he was seen largely as a newcomer, and an outsider.  Rank-and-file Democrats hated him and Hillary.  To generations of disaffected voters in flyover country, however, who had endured 12 years of Reagan-Bush politics, he represented youth, vitality and change.

Moreover, Clinton was an Ivy League graduate, but he was savvy enough to downplay that accomplishment to those who otherwise would've been resentful; so that what got put over instead - the saxophone-playin', Big Mac-eatin', JFK hand-shakin', big boobied 'ho-lovin' redneck from Little Rock - was what helped him win over voters in the so-called heartland.

More than any other politician in recent times, Bill (and Hillary) Clinton understood that the media, conditioned to seek access rather than just report the news, was the real enemy of government in America; and that if you want to get the country on board with the most progressive policies, you have to thread it through the economy.  Most average (white) Americans don't understand things like affirmative action, reproductive rights or gay and transgender rights, because, nine times out of ten, that doesn't affect their lives or the lives of anyone they know.  But they DO know their own pocketbooks.  So, if you can show them how supporting those broader concepts can impact their finances in positive, meaningful ways, you just might grab them.

That's what I mean when I say it's gonna take another Bill Clinton to win back the working class.  It's gonna take someone - someone young, male and white, I'm sorry to say; and who comes from the middle of this country, rather than from the east or west coast - who will take the gloves off as far as the GOP and the establishment media are concerned; and who will know exactly how to reach Billy Bob and Karen, because they've been around them their entire lives and they know exactly how Billy Bob and Karen talk and think.

BTW, how old is Parker Short?  ;)

By the time we have another Bill Clinton, it's going to be pretty much too late because by that point our country is going to be in shambles and there is no fixing it. I've also resigned myself to the fact that I'm good as dead and I probably won't be alive in 4 years, depending on how things play out. At this point death is preferable to living out the rest of my life in an authoritarian dictatorship.

The Village People don't even have a connection to gay culture or life in recent years so the attention on them feels like another smokescreen to me. I imagine those on the left who believe that all gay men are Republicans and are eagerly waiting for them to lose their rights will be enjoying all this.
