Before panic sets in about possible cuts at ABC Daytime, we asked the network what was really happening. "We are carefully and responsibly managing our costs, which include some production cuts, but in ways the audience will not see on screen. Sweeps to date, all of our soaps are showing ratings growth and we are excited about upcoming storylines on all three shows," a spokesperson for ABC Daytime explains.

IMO this just goes to show that the "Kim Zimmer not taking a cut approach" isn't going to work anymore, and that the cuts are going to happen. Lose a little for Drake and D and DAYS if even Susan is taking the pay cut.

Also kind of seems ABC is actually doing some things right with the cuts and everything--no sort of drama involving it.

The sad thing is that a lot of those you mentioned are already on recurring so they don't even get paid unless they are used so getting rid of them does nothing for the budget.

And in order to cut costs a lot of the ones you say keep still need to go or take big cuts esp. if you want to bring back some of the names you are bringing back.

I feel AMC could cut Zach, Kendall, Ryan, Annie, Aiden & Greenlee - all 6 and be just fine. They are all 6 played out, overexposed and a nice break from all 6 wouldn't bother me even though right now with the better balance I am enjoying all for the first time in a long time.

I liked Ange's straightforward and direct approach in the article. Due to the sorry state of daytime television and all soaps falling in the ratings along with the horrible economic situation. It was inevitable that big pay cuts for the actors and everyone involved with daytime television were going to happen. It actually makes logical business sense and may help keep daytime soaps afloat for a bit longer due to these prudent measures.

So is AMC taking the brunt of this for ABC? Because that's what it sounds like.

Does anyone really think that Frons is going to make Steve Burton, Maurice Benard or Laura Wright to take a paycut? I don't think so.

I hope Agnes was allowed to reveal what she revealed or she can say goodbye to whatever minor influence she still has.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?

    • Now this strikes me as funny. I have it up on my acct. The thing is I only have S2. Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.
