I've begun watching "The shooting of Alex Wheeler" clips on Youtube and am admittedly getting sucked in.

Was this, along with the reveal that Dennis was Alex's son not Elliot's, Beverlee McKinsey main story for the first year. Did she leave once this wrapped up. The scene where she admits to Elliot that Dennis is not his and Elliot slaps her was crazy!

I am also loving Lisby Larson's Paige as she worms her way to Dennis and is an adversary of Iris'.

Were there a lot of casting changes on Texas in the short time the show was on? I know they "revamped" it with a younger group when they brought in Alexandra (Diane) Neil and Harley Kozak. Two of my faves. But did the show have ongoing problems with a steady cast as it was trying to find its place?

As I recall, Alex's shooting was in November 1980. Beverlee didn't leave Texas until about a year later...around November 1981.

There were a number of cast changes throughout Texas' run. Terry Dekker and Maggie Dekker were phased out, Max Dekker was recast and then killed off. Vicky's niece and nephew Bart and Samantha were gone quickly, along with Clipper Curtis. Reena's husband Kevin was dropped along with Dawn and Courtney Marshall. Even with some of the "new generation" characters, there were recasts. Elizabeth Berridge joined as Allison Linden and then was dropped in favor of Terri Garber. Ernie Garrett joined as Mark Wheeler and was replaced by Michael Woods. I think, by 1982, Texas had an excellent and strong cast. I know I was addicted!

There were cast changes as robbwolff pointed out; however, the major characters, ones who would have been considered legacy characters later -they remained fairly constant, Texas had somewhat of a large initial cast, so paring it down over time as it became apparent what worked and what did not, was not distracting or harmful. Texas certainly did not suffer the types of casting problems of say, Ryan's Hope or One Life to Live in their formative years. At the time, I found the first few months of Texas excruciating, and I thought early on that it was a mistake. But, in 1981 when cancellation rumours began to swirl, TPTB did take the steps necessary to improve it. By the time Paul Rader, and later Pam Long, took over, Texas had really found its footing and started to gel. The last few months in particular were wonderful. Pam Long had such a feel for the show, and her ability to create warm friendships and strong familial relationships truly began to give Texas its own identity rather than just a spinoff of Another World.

For some reason, I've been thinking about Barbara Rucker, who portrayed Ginny on "Texas." She was one of my favorite actresses on the show. I figured I'd Google her and found that she's now a Mary Kay Cosmetics representative and still acts down in the Nashville area. Here's a link to a recent pic of her. Seeing her again brought a smile to my face.

    • I'm furious that hack new producer is bringing back the wrong Ben Mitchell. Just bring back Harry Reid for goodness sake. Pleased about Zoe.
    • I've said it before, and I'll say it again (and again): CBS should have extended Angela Lansbury the courtesy of going out on HER terms, not theirs.  The network, Universal and Corymore all should've sat down together before the start of the last season and discussed how to ensure that MSW would go out with a bang.  Leave it on Sunday nights, of course, but really pull out some stops: big name guest stars (Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor immediately spring to mind), more on-location/international shoots, maybe convince Peter S. Fischer and William Link to return as consultants, you name it.  But give her and the show the dignity they were due. I do, too, but that's why I love her so much.  She had every right to call him and the rest of the network out, but didn't, because she was simply too classy to do that.  God bless her.
    • Its not right or safe but I notice I dont always lock my doors either   BTW, I only see that happening in Dani's house, and I assume her kids have the key.  Othr than that we've seen Dani just walk into Bill's house but that's been an actual plotpoint

And I’d love to see that beautiful smile a lot more There’s just one problem… that should’ve been sent packing with Uncle Ron
    • Yet another reason some of the characters need servants.  Since some of the sets do not include front doors, servants could answer the off-screen door and escort guests into the living room(s).
    • I remember them showing a map of Michigan during one of Rachel's adventures, and you are probably correct here.  But the map may have been used in 1978, when Sven kidnapped Rachel and characters were searching for her. They had no idea Sven had hidden her right there on the Cory estate.  So that's just another possible sighting of the infamous map.
    • The one thing that drives me nuts about this show is that all these wealthy people never lock their doors and everyone just walks in without even knocking.  I live out in the boonies with no neighbors close by, but I always have my doors locked day or night!
    • All the best people are at the bottom of the list. Lauren, Michael, Chloe, Traci, Ashley, Mariah, Sharon, Amanda, Devon. I’d rather see more of these people than anyone in the top 10.. (with the exception of Jack and Diane) because I am still enjoying their scenes.
    • The live video tribute to Drake last night with current and former actors Thread with link to video: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68987-days-currentformer-actors-live-video-tribute-for-drake-hogestyn  They said that the episodes were filmed out of order over a span of time. As we already knew, re: the upcoming memorial service (not spoiling the airdate here)... the memorial service was taped *before* Drake passed away, and then the studio was on a preplanned hiatus, and the actors learned of his passing during the hiatus. New info from the video last night, is that some of what recently aired (such as June 3rd episode ) was taped *after* the hiatus, so after Drake passed away. Maybe I misunderstood what Martha Madison said, but it sounded that way. My god, I don't know how the actors filmed it, especially Diedre.
    • I did not expect Peter Reckell to be the one to break my heart today. Incredible scenes with Bo and his family.
