Members Huntress
Mallorca - Suche nach dem Paradies (Short opening with character names) This was Pro7's first and only soap opera. It ran from 1999 to 2000 at 7 p.m. and was cancelled after 200 episodes. Several cast members later appeared on other shows, for example Ulrike Frank who portrayed transsexual store owner Julia Breuer on "Mallorca". She has starred as Katrin Flemming-Gerner on "GZSZ" since 2002. Other actors appeared in contract roles on "Verbotene Liebe", "Marienhof", "Sturm der Liebe" etc. Please register in order to view this content Mallorca - Suche nach dem Paradies (Long opening without character names) Stadtklinik (first season, 1993) This show was a medical drama based on the Dutch show "Medisch Centrum West, Amsterdam". It ran on RTL from 1993 to 2000 and had 10 seasons with 159 episodes. OP ruft Dr. Bruckner (first season, 1996) This show was a medical drama in the style of "Emergency Room" . It ran on RTL from 1996 to 1999 and had 4 seasons with 49 episodes. http://youtu.be/EH0AF4Zm-RY
Members DRW50
Did you watch any of those? The first one is catchy, although badly dated. Statdklinik is almost a self-parody - way too long (too many cast members), and those side tilt poses crack me up. I guess it worked though, given the long run. Members Huntress
I watched all three of them, although I gave up on "Mallorca" pretty quickly – as did most of the audience. Concerning production standards, the show was probably ahead of its time, and that may have been the reason for its quick cancellation. It was entirely filmed on location on the Spanish island of Mallorca and therefore production was very expensive. Given the show's dismal ratings – less than one million viewers –, it was no surprise that Pro7 pulled the plug after less than one year. They tried to retool the show towards the end of 1999 by introducing several new characters, but that didn't help. "Stadtklinik's" cast was way too large in the first season, especially since the first season only had 16 episodes. That season was released on DVD last year and I had to force myself re-watching the episodes because most storylines and the acting were so cringeworthy. But during the 90s it was one of the most-watched shows on German television. At the turn of the century it was quietly cancelled by RTL and several episodes have never been shown, so the show doesn't even have a real ending. "OP ruft Dr Bruckner" wasn't that bad. I remember one major episode where there was an explosion (or an earthquake?) and the lower floor of the hospital began filling up with water. It was very dramatic and several – albeit minor – characters were killed off in that episode.
Members CassieFan
In Croatia, they aired Dr. Stefan Frank, it was hilarious LOL. Still my fav German show was Unser Charlie.
Members Huntress
LOL Of all shows you liked the one best that was deemed an old people's show (Ok, to be fair, most shows produced by ARD and ZDF are deemed old people's shows.) Members MKA
New opening sequence for Hotel Cæsar! Order: Pelle Krogstad | Juni Anker-Hansen | Janne Langangen | Arnfinn Lycke & Storm Liland Anker-Hansen | Willy Wang | Vanessa Nyman & Monica Nyman | Mie Andersen | Albert Lunde Anker-Hansen | Jens August Anker-Hansen & Eva Rosenkrantz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTPep9Uh0oU Several changes here. Unlike the previous opening sequence, three of the characters are new. In the previous opening sequence, all the characters had been included in at least one previously opening, but now both Birgitte Victoria Svendsen (as Janne Langangen), Jeppe Beck Laursen (as Willy Wang) and Evy Kasseth Røsten (as Mie Andersen) are new characters. The opening sequence itself has returned to a more "classy" look after some sequences where some characters had a sort of "hipster" look. A quite "good-looking" opening, in my opinion. PS! More on the new characters in the Hotel Cæsar thread.

Members DRW50
Not a fan of any of that VL opening. It looks and sounds about fifteen years old. I always love the AWZ theme. So harsh, in a good way. It grabs you. I guess I get the idea of Unter Uns' theme ( immediately telling people key relationships) but some of those little markers are like a point-and-click game gone wrong. I did laugh at the one with the devil horns.
Members Huntress
It sounds especially harsh because the singer – Christina Stürmer – is from Austria. Austrian German (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austrian_German) and dialects in southern Germany (e.g. Bavarian) tend to sound rougher than High German and dialects from the north. Even though Christina sings in High German, her pronounciation sounds weird to my ears, for example the "ch" and "g" sounds.

Members DRW50
Are those half clips from the show and half scenes filmed for the opening? What was your favorite version of the opening? It all seems so 90s, especially that song.
Members Ben
Neighbours' 2013 opening credits w/ revamped theme tune and titles. (Most of you may have already seen these already, but some may not.) The end credits contain the extended version of the new theme tune - which is not great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3bqBhOJHp0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGMffC7jpF0

Members DRW50
That opening for VL is still so badly dated. How long have they had the dancing woman in the AWZ credits?
