ABC New Daytime Promos

Has anyone seen these new promos for the ABC soaps? Using celebrities to promote their favorite soap on ABC. The song is catchy. But will viewers watch just because they favorite celeb watches that soap.

I have no idea. Actually I barely know any of them. The only one I know is the spice girl one promoting AMC. At first I didnt know who she was either.

I knew Mel and Vicent but I was like who the hell was the ABC one and the OLTL one.

Isnt Chandra Wilson a fan of ABC Daytime? They should have gotten her especially since she is already in the ABC family it could promote daytime and Greys Anatomy.

Totally agree that they should have went with ABC primetime stars from Greys , Housewives , Ugly Betty and B&S!

These people are known to NON-soap audiences.

Soaps aren't cool. In fact, they are the antithesis of cool, especially in the minds of young men and women.

So, having spokespersons known from their music (Mel , their cable shows (P.ssy), their snowboarding...that suddenly adds that viral element of "ohhh...if he/she likes soaps, maybe I will too". I think it is clever.

At first, I was put off that 15-seconds of the 30-second spots were devoted to the 'stranger'. But then I thought it was clever...the stranger shares all these adjectives that draw you in. Now that the stranger has lured you in (you don't even know it is a soap that is being discussed), you see the manifestation of the adjectives with soap characters.

I'm in favor of all such experiments.

Out of all the promos, I think Mel B's is the most genuine.

Those were dreadful. They do nothing to promote soaps to an outside audience. They're just confusing.
