Well, we were the only ones actively promoting the darn show outside of CBS' on-air promos...so yeah, I want credit!

LMAO

No. Viewers reported seeing commercials on E!. So, I think the television promos went further than CBS daytime.

Did they do any print promotion this time? I know they did for OOTA...but I didn't see any print this time.

If SON _was_ the exclusive genesis on online promos, then YOU DO deserve credit Toups.

This is worth investigating, because it could have REAL implications for your ad value.

ETA: I am very surprised that promos worked. PROMOS NEVER WORK any more. Therefore, I am of the opinion that something different--e.g., viral marketing originating with SON--made the different. And since I am so shocked, I think this is REALLY worthy of investigation.

 Well if this is true...you need to promote ATWT more....LOL

You did!

Do you have any "hit" numbers? I'd love to know how many trackable eyeballs actively viewed that promo.

You were credited as the Youtube source for the promo, right?

Prior to our change over to YouTube towards the actual airing of Sudden Impact, the videos shown on the SON server were viewed 29,555 times collectively. We changed over to YouTube promos and ceased posting on the website server on Thursday, July 24.

I'll give you that...but they didn't do my countdown like Toups said, lol. That was a pain in the ass to work with.

Youtube should give you hit data, right?

Following up on Errol's post...I'm dead serious here...I'd love to know if any of this can be a "SON effect".

To test this, SON should collaborate on a few more big promotions (only for events that deserve them).

If it can be shown that SON has a consistent and measureable effect on viewership (independent of other promotion venues), that is POWER (and that is revenue for the site).

In this case, it is hard to know, because the promotions were EVERYWHERE. But, since SON was the specifically credited promo source on Youtube, and since I think that was a big part of where the eyeballs learned about this, I'd love to know how many unique hits the promos got!

I'll bet SON had a MUCH bigger effect than E!

This is important, because it speaks, in part, to Goutman's dismissal of internet fans as a 'very very small' segment of the audience, or whatever the heck nonsense he spouted.

LOL Thanks for backing up SON but I highly doubt we had some impact (no pun intended) in the ratings. And SON having a bigger effect than E!? Come on. LOL

YouTube hits weren't really all that. Okay, but considering we just started using it for this purpose, I didn't expect much out of it. Maybe in the long-term though.

Do people actually watch E!? Was there actually an E! commercial, or is that just hearsay?

Well, let's just say the data analyst in me is ITCHING to know some hard 'hit' numbers and to do the experiment. The vicarious entrepreneurial spirit in me wishes, for you, to aggressively claim the Sudden Impact victory as yours, and to use it for your success.

Errol, you obviously have some contact with marketing at CBS (for your countdown). So, I hope you're conversing about this :-).

I'll give you that, but how much of the people that saw the promos on E! actually tuned in because of the promo airing there? Let CBS spin that, lol...wait they don't spin anything! lmao

Thank you Mark, lol. I'm actually working on some stuff in that area ;)

i don't get it those rating days got +200 in total viewers and there still 1.8

It's not rocket science, DAYS rose in viewers, but households stayed the same.

Think of it this way, collectively more people tuned into Days of our Lives last week, but the amount of households tuning in did not change. Simply put, more people stayed home (or recorded the show and watched later) to watch DAYS with a group of people than they did the week prior.
