But she has been nominated twice in the last two years playing THIS version of Phyllis with JM. She joined the show in 94 but got no nominations until her win in 97. She keeps getting nominated and even submitted a scene with Josh this year so...

Michelle Stafford is opposed, strongly to playing that version of Phyllis. She has said many sometimes that she won't do it. I think she has the pull to make that threat mean something.

And she's won with that prior version of Phyllis and has yet to win with this imitation of a character she's playing now, so...

Well, I guess this is a case when an actor should NOT be telling the writers how to write her character. This isn't the Phyllis I used to know and love, this is a pod character that grates my nerves.

I serioulsy doubt she will submit this year. She has nothing to show for it--thus far.

And honestly, it's somewhat ridiculous to suggest that her ability to secure a nomination means this version of Phyllis is faulty. We have not had a giggling scene in months and months and months. They have not had a love scene in 8 months. She is backburned and boring but much of that is because she has little to do at the moment.

Phyllis has been boring me for well over a year, and has lost those fiery traits she used to possess. She's lost herself, and that's partly because Lynn Marie Latham did not understand the character at all, and her relationship with Nick makes me want to gag myself. I think they're mismatched, and as long as Phyllis is with him, they bring one another down. I know you're a big Phick fan, but I've yet to see what's so interesting about them AFTER their affair (which I loved).

I think Michelle's been recovering from back surgery a lot this year, which could account for her being on the backburner.

I miss what Phyllis used to be and represent, and I don't see that anymore. Phyllis is so much more interesting as the outsider, now she has no real conflict outside of this magazine crap, which I hate. I really do think it's time she left Nick, for a more interesting and dynamic man or stayed single for a while. I'll never buy those two as the love of one another's lives.

Nick and Phyllis should publicly sell their shares to Jack and get the hell out of this magazine. Let Jack and his sycophant wife have it all. They can publish photos of the death scene and show pictures of themselves dancing on the graves for all I care.

I think all writers, not just Y&R should learn from Joss Whedon and not to cater to any fan base. It is the catering for fan bases while shafting others that gets shows into the mess they are in today. Write for the story and keep characters in charter. Growth for a character is a great thing, acting out of character is not.

As for Phyllis, I think she is acting in character. When she joined the show it was her and her baby versus everyone else. Over the years she has learned that other people aren't always out to get her and she doesn't have to be constantly in defensive mode. Too bad the previous writers saw the world only in black and white and couldn't write for grey characters like Phyllis. She has the capability to be really loving and really a bitch, whichever is called for in a scene.

Good for MS for standing up against the Adam fiasco if that is what was intended. Is that why she has been relegated to background/filler? If so, she deserves our respect more than Eric Braeden who obviously did not bother to tell the writers that Victor had a front burner Vasectomy. Now if only Melody/Nikki would remember that it was Victor who hired David as Jack's campaign manager, instead of blaming everyone else for his problems. But it is typical Victor to insist that everyone else, "blame themselves, but conveniently forget his part in any blame.

Y&R has gotten interesting again, but I wonder how long it will be before it goes sour once again.

I think this is fair. She has been less herself and that has bothered me as well, to some extent. She was great and sassy during the affair. But LML was so interested in rushing the story, she stopped truly telling it. It bugged me that they got together so quickly after the Nick was named the father. The affair had a lot of drama but their coupledom has been full of less angst. Even when Nick came back with his memory he was on Sharon for a hot minute and then very quickily in love with Phyllis again. It was a wasted opportunity to give them some great story and tension.

And while I am a big fan, I am willing to see some serious angst with them right now. The actors brought it during the search for Daniel/Lily. They were great during the affair. I would like to see the same care given to them now. I guess I agree that they are dull and boring. I just want to see it worked out and not have them separate.

Well,I won't accuse you of being a Shick fan. Plenty of fans just don't like them and it has nothing to do with Sharon and Nick. ;)

That's one of the good things that's come out of MAB's tenure as head writer so far. She's brought back the fact that Paul and Nikki go way back. They might have even gotten together once upon a time were it not for Victor coming in to her life. But given Victor's tendency to hold a grudge, he's probably going to harbor his bitterness toward Nikki for her keeping David so entrenched in their lives for while now that Sabrina's dead. And with Paul being the only male in town not related to her showing her some support, maybe that old spark might reignite.
