November 16, 20241 yr Member @DRW50 Thanks for those! They are really well produced. It's a shame that the show itself never seemed to capture that energy. I will always have a sweet spot for "Rituals" until the day (hopefully) it all becomes available and I realize how bad it actually is.

I was surprised by the production quality compared to what I've seen of the show. I agree that I hope more appears...anything, really.
November 16, 20241 yr Member It's weird to think that stuff that aired in the 1980's would become rare and hard to find. There is very little of Rituals and The Catlins that has surfaced.

Unfortunately, unless they decide to digitize it to put it on some FAST service I doubt it'll see the light of day...
February 23, 20251 yr Member I wish more of this show would show up. I am particularly curious to see how the final few months played out with the fresh to soap opera writing duo they hired. Palumbo's run seems to be full of constant changes though curious to see how it evolved through all those revisions. Raymond Goldstone's work seems more grounded and definitely influenced by Jorn Winter. In particular, the Lucky / Julia pairing, the white supremacist storyline, and the introduction of Christina's sister Lisa, the high end Washington madam, would be interesting to see.

Since the show had a definite end and wrap-up of stories, it would be fun to watch it all these years later.
August 14, 2025Aug 14 Member 5 minutes of an episode. Most likely from October, 1984. I'll look into it to see if I can identify the exact episode @NadineC If you haven't seen it already, Tim Maier is featured prominently in two scenes. https://www.tiktok.com/@superdeformed/video/7522610768211201335

September 2, 2025Sep 2 Member In time for the 40th anniversary of the show's conclusion There is a second part. The first part has closed captions available. The second does not. The first scene features a music cue in the background that sounds like one of the final themes from "The Doctors." I was surprised to hear in the end of the first part that the C.J. has only won the primary against the incumbent, Governor Harrison, while I had read he had won the entire race. Given the September airdate, the primary made more sense. With the threatening note, I believe more that the shooting was intended to be the 4th quarter cliffhanger to convince stations to buy the show for the 1st quarter of the second year. I cannot imagine that the original plan was Christina. I also had never realized how long Christina's monologue is. It takes up a good chunk of what would have been the final half-hour episode.
