thanks for the ratings toups. although can somebody please explain to me how exactly does a soap benefit from constantly having 1st place with the Women 18-34 Rating? does it have anything do to with avertising and getting more money then the other soaps?

18-49 is the desired demo for advertisers, 18-34 is second on that list though...

Everything on ATWT is good right now and I love the Carly/Holden/Lily/Jack stuff as its gotten better overtime to me. I think ATWT's rating will be predicated on how it did last week since the Liberty and Parker stuff had people talking.

Surprised AMC is holding up right now. GL is the hottest of the soaps right now and its showing and I fear for DOOL being the last place soap, but its their fault for firing Sheffer and now Y&R is benefiting its rewards reaching a 3.7 twice in one week.

I might be the only one here, but I think Y&R reaches a 5.0 or 4.5 in November. They've got a hot sweep s/l planned and its huge. The reason why I think that is b/c Sudden Impact is going to help bring people back and they've got three months to get near 4.0. People doubt Y&R ever seeing a day over 4.0 again, but its the one soap that will break that streak of soaps free falling.

All of daytime knows they need to step it up in order to stay alive.

Well, I want to believe that Y&R will hit anywhere near 5.0. What's the hot sweeps story? I want to believe in the big "5.0".

Most companys that run advertising during ospas are for products aimed at woman 18-49. therefor, the soap that is watched by the most woman in that demo would be a top soap a company would want to advertise with. its a 'key' soap demo.

It's great that Y&R went up. I'm just surprised that DAYS and ATWT went down. I thought that week was fantastic for both shows. I think GL is get a little nudge for the week of July 21-25 with the Jeva reunion and Ava's baby being Remy's.

I thought ATWT was good that week. But it wasnt Martha in the role of Lily and Jon Hensley's acting wasnt good during the affair reveal. I thought last week was even better. Well, Mon, Tues, Wed shows were great. So I will be surprised if ATWT does not go up on Thursday.

ABC Soaps are doing better this summer than expected and I'm still surprised they're not in the 1s.

The 18-34 demo is important for shows like DOOL, which focus on college students.

Soaps are barely in trouble b/c the demos are up to par from last year, but GL needs to get out of that 0.9 range.

I can't reveal anything on here as its too early, but its the biggest thing to happen to Y&R in five years from what I've heard. Alot of storylines are going to be in full shape by then. The actual details in the storyline won't be leaked until August or September. I'll keep an eye on it for you.

It might be a while honestly for Y&R to reach a 5.0, but a 3.9 or 4.0 will be enough for the soap genre to stock in more life in it. I wouldn't be surprised if Y&R averages a 3.9 or better for the week of July 28-Aug 1. Soaps go as Y&R goes.

It doesn't matter what surprise twist or stunt Y&R or any other soap comes up with, the audience is simply not there any more. The ratings are trending downwards and there is no evidence that this is stopping any time soon. At most, Y&R may be able to get a temporary bump, but that is it. Y&R will be fortunate to to see 4.0 again.

I agree. I don't see them gaining much ground. I guess it's good they are up, but I'm still not impressed with the show overall.
