The character type I like the best is simple: THE DIVA (aka THE BITCH)

Katherine Chancellor, Jill Abbott, Erica Kane, Dorian Lord, Margo Lynley, Stephanie Forrester, Sally Spectra, Vivian Alamain, Alexandra Spaulding, Iris Cory, Rachel Cory (for a time), Lisa Hughes etc etc etc.

All of 'em are soap opera gold.

Guys : The strong silent type..............like myself  A man who doesn't have to be arrogant show off what he's got he can be manly in subtle ways .

Women: A strong confident woman who doesn't take any B.S but does it with class . Jill from y&r comes to mind immediately

FWIW, my top five favorite characters from daytime:

1. Roger Thorpe (GL)

2. Dr. John Dixon (ATWT)

3. Rita Stapleton Bauer (GL)

4. Mason Capwell (SANTA BARBARA)

5. Erica Kane (AMC)

Therefore, I think I am attracted to characters who aren't necessarily bad, in the sense that James Stenbeck (ATWT) and Stefano DiMera (DAYS) were bad, but who could be self-destructive or self-serving, yet still intelligent, still witty, and still "root-able".

*Psychopaths - preferably ones with a sense of humor. Think B&B's Pamela and Y&R's Diane (#2).

*Very complex characters where it's hard to draw the line between hero(ine) and villain. Think Y&R's Phyllis Newman, Michael Baldwin and Kevin Fisher.

*Bright, perky, breath-of-fresh air characters. Think the current Colleen Carlton, the last Mackenzie Browning, and Victoria Hellstrom when she's not in a mood.

*Insanely hot. Think Nicholas Newman, Daniel Romalotti and Thorne Forrester.

I tend to go for a lot of underdogs. Particularly characters who are bashed by the viewers and on the boards like Courtney on GH or Amber on B&B. I always have the desire to play devil's advocate for them and grow fond of them in the process.

Male villains. Many others want all the villains to be these complex misunderstood type of characters, I don't. Sure some villains can be like that but I don't want all of them to be, what's the fun in that?

I like all kinds of male villains.

Larger than life like Stefano DiMera.

Business Tycoons like Victor Kiriakis.

Mafia Dons like the old Victor Kiriakis.

Lowlife scumbags like Paul Mendez, Curtis Reed.

Scheming conmans like Franco Kelly, Colin Murphy.

I've always had a thing for bad girls. Especially blonde and tall bad girls. Hence the banner and avatar LOL.

Me too DP! The bad girls. Not the tall blonde thing.

I preferred Blair to Marty and Blair to Kelly.

Dorian to Viki

Lindsay to Nora

Natalie to Jessica or Evangeline or Marty (or anybody).

I preferred Reva to Vanessa (although Vanessa had a bit of bad girl in her)

Dinah to Cassie

Dinah to Tammy

Blake

Harley
