Based on the history of her family, she will likely be killed offcamera in a year so that Sam and Lydia can raise the baby.

Finally completed the first 100 episodes of Emmerdale Farm. We're into October 1973, so roughly a year's worth of episodes. I think we're approaching Jack's departure now, and quite frankly the character feels a little out of place. He worked well in the beginning as the outsider but now he just feels slightly detached. He's part of the family, yet apart from it. So his absence will probably not be very noticeable.

I'm waiting for the moment when Henry moves into the Woolpack and begins his partnership with Amos. It should happen in the near future. That was an inspired idea, and changed the dynamics of the show. It also gave Henry a more stable footing in the village.

And so, exactly one year after the first episode, October 16th 1973, in episode 104, Jack Sugden leaves Beckindale again. Just like Marian's departure I expect this to alter the dynamics of the show a bit, even though Jack's presence has diminished lately.

In the latest episode I watched (episode 106), there was a more than 6 minutes long, uninterrupted scene between Reverend Ruskin and the bishop about faith and belief and the loss of it. Absolutely amazing. You would never get such a long scene between two characters just talking nowadays. Especially talking about a subject like that.

Gosh when Emmerdale is going all out with their climax they are doing it well! Like I said.. Belle carried 2024! If she doesn’t win sheet then it’s all rigged. U don’t even have to be a fan of the Dingles or ED in particular in soapland but u can’t deny that she did an outstanding job!

kudos to the actor of Tom too.

That trial was heartbreaking… Those are the moments when I can’t just give up on Emmerdale lol

Emmerdale is such a fun, light-hearted show nowadays, isn't it.....

They jump straight from a long storyline about domestic abuse to a story about sexual abuse, while also simultaneously telling stories about a brain tumour, the effects of Parkinson's disease while also revisiting the tragic death of longtime character Donna Windsor and the effects on her daughter.  And why did they bring Ross back just to regress him like this?

Happy Holidays!    🎄

I suppose some could say the same of the '70s (especially before the Amos and Wilks double act began) but the show had much more depth and the characters felt like real people.

I haven't been going into the '70s watch but I've appreciated seeing your posts. And yes, no soap would allow such a long, unbroken scene now.

Faith was a key part of Emmerdale for many, many years. Even now they feint in that direction, but I can't imagine anyone finding any spiritual comfort in Harriet (RIP) or Charles.

At least it’s not all over the place like coronation street. They tortured me enough that I had to take a break for a couple of weeks. Lol I love me some drama but too much drama is really killing me mind and my mood.

Ross return is the Most dissapointing 2024-Storyline :(

I just wish they could have waited a little while before jumping into another dark, disturbing story like sexual abuse after this year has been dominated by the domestic abuse story. A little reprieve over Christmas would have been nice.

I think most people had Joe as one of two options for who Kim's enemy was (the other option being Jamie).

And as usual they are going overboard in their promoting of his return. Ned Porteous had this to say:

Quote

Joe has always been a character with a dark side, but there could be something much bigger at play here. Joe is back for a reason, and the devastation at Home Farm is just the beginning of a much bigger story. It's safe to say the audience can expect fireworks this holiday season!

And producer Laura Shaw added:

Quote

We are thrilled to welcome Ned back to the village as the complex and captivating Joe Tate. From the moment Joe arrives on screen, it's clear there's trouble ahead but Joe's hiding an even darker secret that could see 2025 start off with a huge bang.

I don't think the statements are that hyperbolic but it's difficult to care about the story. The Tates are just so isolated and Home Farm lacks the old grandeur. It's mostly just Claire King who makes viewers care, although at least the show isn't having her ordering hits and all the other nonsense she was doing when she first came back.

That's true. Thank heaven for small mercies.   :P

I have to give credit where credit is due, they really surprised me with this latest death. Disappointed that it wasn't a Dingle this time either, but still surprised.

I guess it depends on if you feel benevolent or cynical if you see it as an homage to or a blatant rip-off of Frank Tate's death.
