The scheduling for Corrie is so odd, they might as well trim episodes anyway. They air two episodes on Monday, one on Thursday, two on Friday.

I think the soaps could do with trimming but then, as you mention, who would go? I have a feeling the only ones who would be safe are dead weight like Graeme, Nick, Michelle, and Sean.

Why would Molly ever sleep with Kevin? He's not attractive in the slightest. Poor Tyrone.

The love quad of Nick/Leanne/Peter/Carla was the most interesting to me. Nick is kind of attractive. What broke up Nick/Leanne in the first place?

For someone who has barely watched this show at all, the Jack stuff was good, especially Vera showing up and Tyrone's heartbreak. I really like him.

The gay guy annoyed me for two reasons, other than that he's nothing but a nelly queen. 1) He wore orange. This is always unacceptable. The color should be banned from existence. 2) He sucks at pouring a pint! How long has he been working at the Rovers?

I think Kevin is kind of cute, and funny and he has a nice butt. This story trashed him -- before it started he was a really nice guy. I was more confused as to why he would be interested in Molly. The story with the two of them was just terrible. They began running together and this led to an affair, complete with horrible lines like, "I want to jump your bones."

They got married when they were both about 16 or 17, and they were too young to handle a marriage. The last straw was when she got pregnant and Nick guilted her into having an abortion. She never forgave him.

I can't get into this story, as I just do not like Nick, and I hate what they have done to Leanne/Peter. And Carla the pathetic drunk who has zero purpose on the show and falls in love with Peter after ten minutes.

The Jack stuff was good, though I kind of hate that he died kind of sad/angry over knowing the Molly/Kevin stuff and keeping it from Tyrone.

The scenes with him dancing off with Vera were just touching and classy though.

I hate Nick too. Him and his monkey ears.

The Sophie and Sian stuff about the pastor and religious stuff was cringe-worthy. Despite that, I do like those two though. The show doesn't feel comfortable writing for them though, it's all "look we have two teenage lesbians!"

A few online Corrie things for the anniversary (I'm looking more forward to the stuff with Ken and the past than the silly news updates for the tram crash -- who cares about hearing about the deaths of characters everyone knows are leaving anyway).

A photo of some of the past and present cast. It's nice to see Julie Goodyear with the cast again. I can't believe they didn't bother to bring Bet back for Jack's funeral. Or Terry. Collinson seems to not care about the show's past or history, which is a shame.

I do kind of wish she'd retire the leopard print...

Corrie will be airing throughout the week during the anniversary week:

http://www.itv.com/presscentre/coronationstreet/week49overview/default.html

There will also be several timeslot clashes between EastEnders and Emmerdale during that week, which ITV probably did to lower EastEnders' yearly average, which is very close to Corrie's this year.

The Guardian's list of top 10 Corrie characters. Like the one for Eastenders early this year, this list has some fairly laughable inclusions to seem "relevant" (Roxy anyone) -- this one having

I was wondering if those who are still watching regularly have any opinion on the Carla/Peter/Nick/Leanne story? I am so repulsed by Nick, and by what they've done to Carla over the last year, that I haven't brought myself to see it. I feel sorry for Jane Danson. She's such a fantastic actress and finally got a great story with Peter, after years of just having stories where she was second choice to a man, and now that has been tossed aside so she can obsess over the creepy old man.

    • Thank you for the constructive suggestion.
    • But how is it "apparent" that she signed a new 3-year contract? Your wording had a voice of authority -- as if you knew it was true. A better way to post about it? Say you read online that she signed a new contract, but have no idea if that's true.
    • This interview actually reminds me a bit of Kim Zimmer’s press during the infamous clone storyline on Guiding Light, or Deidre Hall during the possession story on Days. All three were seasoned daytime veterans who made it clear they valued airtime for their characters, not just being part of a romantic pairing. It seems that idea was part of the pitch behind these bigger-than-life plots. They all took big swings in their performances. When I read Kim Zimmer’s memoir, I thought she captured it best — she wanted to be respected for being willing to take those risks. To paraphrase her, she knew it was ridiculous for Reva to think she was pregnant after menopause, but she still threw herself into those scenes and made them real. That’s what really struck me about Victoria Wyndham’s interview too. She responded like a real person. It felt like she was telling Michael Logan that she knew Justine — and a geriatric pregnancy with twins — was totally preposterous, but that she still deserved credit for trying to keep the show alive and entertain the audience. And honestly, I think that's more than fair. Logan is looking for a reductive answer for who is to blame.  And, she's telling him to accept that they were all well-meaning.  Which is not a defense of bad storytelling.  But, I understand that she's frustrated because she interpreted Logan's critique as a lack of commitment, and she wants him to know that she was committed! (maybe not for the best, but committed).
    • Fine, you only had to say so. It's not a problem to me NOT to post this. I have no idea what this means.
    • Oh, really? I think we're really getting close.  What does "apparently" mean to you? To me, it means that this is something I think has happened but not something I absolutely positively know to have happened. When I use a word like "apparently" as I have here, I am doing so by intent. Can you think of a better way to communicate that?
    • Wow...I was not expecting a montage.   I know SilkPress did not!!! Poor Eva.  Lol. Funnily enough I missed that.
    • For the record, VW thought having the twins at their ages was absurd & who wanted that story, was some group of fans, who wanted her & Carl to have a chance at having children together. Not any fans that I knew of, but supposedly they existed.
    • Brandon Tartikoff saved NBC primetime. Brandon Stoddard got ABC Tuesday to rebound and put an end to the Aaron Spelling hit factory.
    • Awwwww Brad. I know I shouldn't, but I feel bad for him

And yeah, agreed that Dante having animosity towards Gio is very forced and contrived. And it also has me concerned that it means the reveal won't be happening anytime soon.
    • God, I love that woman. Another amazing interview!!
