Soap Star Plastic Sugery

As this is my area of expertise I always think it's fun to dissect who in the soap business has had plastic surgery or dermatological intervention.

Of course there are a number of stars who memorably and publically went under the knife, Eileen Letchworth of AMC and Jeanne Cooper of Y&R being the genre's pioneers. Then, there are stars who covertly had facelifts with the 'accident' storyline, Linda Dano and Susan Lucci memorably used this storyline to their cosmetic advantage.

There are also those actresses (and actors, don't kid yourself) who have had little tweaks, think Katherine Kelly Lang and the age defying brow lift she had in the early 2000s.

There is also the unfortunate lot of actresses who have had a lot of bad work, think up your own there is a number of them.

And of course there is the sea of stars who have tonnes of visible, good work that they flat out deny.

So who do you think has had it? Who still needs it? Who looks the best (especially given their age) and who looks the worst?

^I agree.

Lesli Charleson and Jackie Zeman of General Hospital, need not to go under the knife again.

Several who have aged gracefully (and has maybe had a few minor tweaks here and there) include: Melody Thomas Scott, Renee Jones, Deidre Hall, Erika Slezak, Tracey Bregman, Jess Walton, Eileen Davidson, Peter Bergman, David Canary, Ted Shackleford, Colleen Zenk Pinter, Nancy Lee Grahn, Andrea Evans, Katherine Kelly Lang...

^ Your list of aging gracefully is very good with one exception: Deidre Hall. She looks stunning...but she's had a lot of help. Not just the odd surgical tweak or chemical peel. We're talking full facelift, necklift, full eyes, dermabrasion, chemical peels, the whole nine yards, she looks sensational.

Most everyone else on your list has gotten away with nothing (Shackelford, Bergman) or the bare minimum (Bregman, Canary, Walton, Zenk Pinter, Grahn, Evans) or are on the young ish side (Lang, Davidson, Jones). When it comes to Slezak I bet she's had more done than anyone would think.

And yes, Charleson and Zeman should avoid the dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Especially Charleson, that woman is sporting a brutal facelift. Zeman, if she were to stop any sort of treatment for a year, would look MUCH better as most everything she appears to do is reversible.

Those who have had it look awful. There are some who need it...cough* GL* cough. There are those who look great without it. Doug Davidson comes to mind. The man is still gorgeous.

I'd like to know who Deidre goes to...my bet is someone foreign and expensive and probably in Brazil. She does look great.

When it comes to Tracey Bregman I see both sides of the argument. She DOES look artificial, but then, she always has, even when she was in her 20s. Simply put Tracey Bregman has a hard face with sharp features. That's not a bad thing, the fact is that her work (which I would think is limited to some fillers, Botox and eye work) is well done. She looks like herself and she's always looked hard.

I also think Rebecca Herbst has aged very, very well. Same with Thad Luckinbell. Both could still probably pass for mid-late twenties.

Sharon Case and Joshua Morrow too have aged into beautiful adults.

Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams both look stunning as well.

The wardrobe on GH makes Laura Wright look older than she really is. Kelly Moanco is beautiful, but you can see that she's a party girl. Jane Elliot on the other hand looks sensational.

I'm 50/50 with Don Diamont, and Christian Leblanc looks good too! Oh yes, and Eric Braeden has definitely improved with age, less oily.

Ooohh and Susan Flannery really let herself go, because she used to be drop dead gorgeous on DOOL. I saw a clip of her, and the difference then and now is overwhelming. Not saying she isn't still attractive, but she looks nothing like yesteryear.

Jerry Douglas is another one who has been well kept.

    • Not all friends are alike though and there should be a counterbalance in some friendships on soaps. Dani has already been all over the place enough and doesn't need an unstable friend.
    • I was finally warming up to Eva but today, that girl, what in the world was she thinking, crawling back to Mama saying she was under a lot of pressure. Pitiful. And, just what did she get for her trouble? Rebuffed, totally. Anastasia, she can go kick rocks. Who needs her & what was she wearing? I'm surprised to learn that some people did not have an appreciation of Dani & then Anita, right after, at Theodore's. I thought they were both right on the money & also sharp, witty.  Ted, of course, is playing at being Impervious Man, which is very funny & he takes it one step further, making all these declarations of his intent to woo Nicole back & win her trust again. I find myself laughing so hard at him & at how he has totally misread his circumstances. He has zero chance but wow he has so much confidence. This I find to be so humorous, possibly unintentionally so.
    • They feel like a bad Three's Company parody.
    • The fact that there's so little action in the Y&R threads whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads says a lot right there.
    • Im convinced that had Karen Huger not been in jail, Anastasia was meant to be her recurring role

    • I think Dani cares about her sister, but I agree with you. She's using this whole mess to be heard and make herself feel better. I wish Ted and Eva told her to fck off. I had to laugh when Dani commented on her and Anita confronting Ted. She acted as if they destroyed him. That's not what I saw. Dani has been dialed back from those first weeks, but I can't say she's likable. As long as she's throwing shade at Eva for her work as a hairstylist -- while ignoring that she did nothing except eat celery sticks and walk the runway -- she can kiss off. Barely tolerable, and Lindstrom is terrible in the role. I don't find him scary at all, and his money laundering plan is stupid as hell. I gagged when he texted Vanessa to ask if she was thinking about him. That's throw up time.   I just don't see how that makes Ashley any more interesting. And are we really asking for another storyline where a father connects with his adult daughter? I know there's no direct parallel to Eva's story, but come on. If you're in the minority, I'll join you. I have zero interest in any of that. -- I still fail to see Nicole and Vanessa as best friends. Nicole is grounded and stable and responsible, and Vanessa is not. It made more sense to have Dani and Vanessa being close. -- Ashley and Derek were actually OK today. I feel sorry for the actors, honestly, because they've been given nothing. It's crazy, because so much of the rest of the show is firing on all cylinders.
