Members Y&RWorldTurner
Bumped to push my David Shaughnessy agenda and for further suggestions! Here's hoping, by whatever luck the show has that David Suaghnessy can somehow come back and Executive Produce Y&R again!
Members MarkH
Me, I'd vote for Scott or Smith or Shaughnessy. I'm actually indifferent who. Any of them would be fine for continuity. Alternatively, I'd vote for Wendy Riche, who can continue to help this show find its' heart again. I think, too, I'd lure Mark Teschner or somebody like that over for casting, because Y&R continues to have serious problems with its' young group...and Teschner isn't bad with that. Members dm.
If SONY rehired Ed Scott after what he did on DAYS, they'd get blasted for it. Both Griffith and Scott are in danger of never getting that type of a job again.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Scott will never work for a Sony soap again, so he's out of the question. Either get David Shaughnessy in there or find someone with actual talent, like a Wendy Riche or Shelley Curtis.
Members MarkH
I find this curious. You both act as though WGA censure is somehow meaningful. Y&R has a FiCore HW...and two FiCore subwriters (Sheffer, Cwikly). This seems to be no biggie. What would be the consequences of Y&R hiring Ed Scott. Would would Y&R have to be afraid of? Members Y&RWorldTurner
Fi-Core writers still pay dues and are allowed to work on WGA projects, though they give up full membership and can't vote in WGA elections. Ed Scott is pretty much hated by the WGA, because he is not a member or someone who is Fi-Core, yet he had the nerve to rewrite storylines with an actress who had no affiliation with the WGA. If Scott is hired at another soap, the WGA will be watching him closely, and needless to say, Scott damaged his own reputation with his lack of professionalism, and that makes it unlikely he'll ever find another producing job at a soap. However, who knows what will happen.
Members MarkH
This raises another excellent question. Is this actress yet to feel consequences. Like, say she was going on maternity leave...I wonder if she would come back? Or, if she was going to do a primetime show...one wonders if they'd just write her out. Who knows? Members DaytimeFan
Ed Scott and Josh Griffith are pretty much done. It's a shame this sh*t storm has hit Ed Scott, the man can produce. Griffith, meh, no balls, no glory, no tears for him. My vote goes to David Shaugnessy! He's the answer, it's really that simple. Next in line would be Shelley Curtis, she's a female Ed Scott, she can produce, she also rehired Suzanne Rogers in the 80s when she was very ill, so she has a heart and a backbone, which I totally respect. The third option, which when you consider the recent ascension of Kay Alden is a possibility, is Brad Bell...running both shows, just like his dad. Members MarkH
I still don't understand why this is true. Even if WGA HATES Ed Scott...why should Y&R care what WGA thinks? WHAT CONSEQUENCES might emerge? If Y&R flouts WGA and says 'we want Scott', what could possibly stop Y&R? What possible consequences could remotely touch Y&R. Please help my thick skull see this. I even floated this idea a while back. But I'm actually WATCHING B&B. No worse crime could be imagined for Y&R, IMO. That would be the nail in the coffin. 2nd Generation Bell is to Y&R as 2nd Generation Corday is to DOOL.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
What's not to get? Ed Scott is under investigation under the WGA, Y&R doesn't want to risk that especially since Josh Griffith is also under investigation by the WGA. If Scott comes back to Y&R, the WGA is going to be watching him like a hawk because there's no trust there and that could potentially lead to yet another investigation. Y&R doesn't want to risk more financial and legal ramifications by hiring another Scott or Griffith.
Administrator Toups Posted August 18, 2008 Administrator Share Posted August 18, 2008 Lisa De Cazotte And you know who she's going to bring in.
Members DaytimeFan
Dare to dream Toups, dare to dream But I will admit that he did demonstrate a bit of Bell style writing during his first run at DAYS. Stories took a long time to develop and were dark but boy did they have a helluva good pay off...but then his second run at DAYS and all 9 seasons of PASS didn't have payoff at all, it's like he forgot his Bell structure. Members Y&RWorldTurner
The only way I'd take JER at Y&R is if he's a story consultant, hey Bill Bell trusted him to consult on B&B or as a breakdown writer, which he was on Y&R briefly. Lisa De Cazotte can stay unemployed after GH:NS.
Administrator Toups Posted August 18, 2008 Administrator Share Posted August 18, 2008 With Lisa, she's not goint to rewrite anything. She's also not going to make any power plays. She'll just produce the show and let the HW write. She's a HW's producer!
