I don't have the date of the first news article, but the latter SOD review is from May 1984.

Thanks for sharing these articles. I loved reading Dan Wakefield's All Her Children. I wonder what he would have been like as a head writer of a soap.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread

That's a good question and not an easy one. There are some characters I adored, like Megan, but I know they weren't essential to Llanview's fabric.
For characters before I officially began watching, I'd say Viki, Dorian, Herb, Ed, Larry, Wanda, Jenny. I'd also want one or two of the other side of the tracks type characters, like Karen or Marco.
I wish I could see more of Anna, Sadie, Carla, Vince, etc. to gauge them better.

According to his wife, SALLY, MICHAEL STORM’S job is like being perpetually semi-retired. For more than 17 years he has played the role of Dr. Larry Wolek on the daytime soap opera, “One Life to Live”. During a year he averages about three days a week on the show, but the schedule varies. Some weeks he may not appear at all, while others he works five days. He has developed other interests to fill the gaps, and finds that he has more than enough to do.
Raised in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Michael, a painter, went to the University of California majoring in fine arts. While in college he got his first taste of performing. He played the quitar and sang. With a friend he formed a group that ultimately appeared on the Andy Williams show for three years. Michael bred and sold tropical fish for fun. When he learned of a tropical fish store for sale, he decided to buy it. A year later, Michael received a call from his brother in New York. The brother was playing the role of Dr. Larry Wolek, but was tiring of it. He asked Michael if he was interested. Michael was. He auditioned successfully, and started playing the part in January 1969.
As native Californians, relocated to New York, Michael and Sally missed the availability of fresh vegetables in the winter. Having always been interested in gardening and horticulture, Michael began growing vegetables hydroponically under lights. The high cost of electricity made'it too expensive, so he built a greenhouse. Shortly after it was set up, about eight years ago, Sally looked in and said, “You should have an orchid in here.” Michael liked the idea, and ordered five or six. Like the tropical fish, Michael found them very exotic. He became fascinated with one of the largest families of plants on earth and with the people who grow them. Now the orchid growing takes a lot of Michael’s time, but he has many other activities too. His real interest is acting. He loves the soap opera and feels it is a test of his acting skills—playing the same role through changes of script writers and producers. When he is not in the script he gets restless. He feels that the live theater is “it” and has appeared in off Broadway plays.
When he’s not working he likes to go board sailing. He is an avid golfer, and plays tennis, too. He also donates a lot of his time to charity, travel across the country and Canada, sometimes acting as an emcee, or playing tennis or golf. He is the celebrity chairman of an annual golfing.event in Long Island which raises money for St. Francis Hospital. Currently he is involved in Hands Across America, and the Special Olympics. Semi-retired, indeed. Soqpds more like a very varied full time occupation, to me.

B&B: June 2026 Discussion Thread

Katie is the Logan that Stephanie had some respect for dating back to when Katie told the truth to Thorne about Donna's intentions before his wedding to Donna so it does make sense that Katie would remind Brooke of Stephanie. Brooke is acting as if Hope is a child who she can control which makes her a lot like Stephanie who liked controlling her children, not to mention the violent outburst. She's out her mind coming up there and breaking stuff.

All My Children Tribute Thread

@EricMontreal22 These are all fascinating in piecing together what got on air.
Ryan's brother did appear, but I don't remember how long he was ever portrayed as a charming scamp, if he ever was. They established from the start that Kit actually was raped, and there was no attempt at her covering up consensual sex (the problem was the awful "cry rape" baggage with Tad - none of that story is suggested here). Unlike the wow casting mentioned here, he was a real dud, even if he wasn't meant to be.
Kelsey going bad because of rejection and neglect isn't a bad idea. Going so far with the false rape accusations was a terrible idea.
The whole "blackmailing Gillian for sexual favors" was given to David (David did so many nasty things in those first few years which viewers never seemed to mind). Amazing to me that she was going on about Ryan and Gillian being a rooting couple when she already had this story in mind. Ryan's reaction to the whole thing ruined that couple for me.
It's disappointing to see she had far more plans for Liza than we got onscreen. Liza spent McTavish's run mostly just being impregnated by Adam without her consent (another story which ruined a couple beyond repair).
What was Ruth meant to be diagnosed with? Was she meant to have a cancer story?
Regarding Corley, he had the right idea about Scott initially being seen as gay. If he was also one of the main people responsible for Janet's redemption story that means he was responsible for a lot of what worked in 1995. I wonder if he wasn't as involved in where the show started to falter as 1996 progressed.

GH: June 2026 Discussion Thread

What would have been really different and refreshing would have been giving Gio a brain and having him say that Tracy has a good point, maybe I will crash at the Qs for a bit, but no, they have to make Gio inexplicably want to stick with Sonny and come off as a complete doofus.
Looks like they are finally going to pay off some of these stories. They usually do well with "event" episodes, so hopefully the next few shows will be entertaining, or at the very least not boring.

Sidwell says Lucas' grief was convincing, but now he believes Lucas caused Marco's death. Lucas throws back that it was Sidwell's fault that Marcodied. He would have done anything for his father, things he didn't like doing. Sidwell shoots Lucas three times. 6/10/2026 -- Sidwell shoots Lucas three times. Laura checks on Lucas, who was wearing a vest. Dante and several officers have surrounded Sidwell. Lucasdoesn't want to get checked at the hospital, but Laura pulls the "Mom" card saying Bobbie would never forgive her. Officer Fitz takes Lucas to the hospital. 6/12/2026 -- talks to Chase abut Sidwell; talks to Justine about his role in taking down Sidwell. 6/18/2026 -- with Dante and Elizabeth, Elizabeth busts his a** for not telling her what was going on. Dante wonders where Sidwell could be hiding... Fitz asks him about one of Sidwell's men, a patient. Asks Lucas about saline. 6/24/2026 -- moves home to Carly's house; she has been worried since the shooting; Carly tells Lucas about Secret Squirrel   Joss as a WSB agent. He offers her enough drug for Drew to last a lifetime to allow him to stay with them 6/23/2026 -- still lurking about the Cain house (with 2 cops  in the house, and witnesses Drew "blink" Wallow under the bus! He jokes about Drew's blaming Wallow. 6/29/2026 -- Sidwell forces Ezra to smuggle him to the house he bought for Lucas and Marco. Fitz and Cassius are staking it out. Rocco Falconeri Added 6/18/2026 -- hungry at all times(he's a growing boy!) goes to the Tortola Bodega and finds her passed out on the floor. Calls Charlotte and gives her an address for "Nathan" to send medicine   6/19/2026 -- Britt needs Rocco to get supplies. Unbeknownst to Britt, Rocco calls Charlotte and asks her to have "Nathan" send her meds. The two continue to bond. 6/24/2026 -- Britt reveals she only had food poisoning. Rocco is relieved, but he already sent for her medication. Britt reveals it's only a matter of time until she starts to show symptoms again -- he agreed to leave if this happened. Rocco tells her he won't abandon her. 6/25/2026 -- Rocco returns from the bodega and post office. Has Britt's medicine, that's why he called "Nathan"  6/26/2026 -- Lulu doesn't want Britt with them, but sees how upset Rocco is about abandoning her. Stung that Rocco loves Britt, but leaves the decision to stay together up to Britt. She won't join them, but promises Rocco will see her again. Dante, Lulu and Rocco exit.

Soaks Cody's phone 6/30/2026 -- at the batting cages with Cody (phone not working yet; ) Cassius arrives and he and James are going to leave, just as Cody hears the message from Mac and Felicia -- Cassius is not really Nathan
Assistant District Attorney Justine Turner Added 6/12/2026 -- with Lucas; doesn't want Chase anywhere near this case. Wants to know how Sonny got involved in this takedown of Sidwell. Tells Lucas she'll have officers keep an eye on him while Sidwell is free. Threatens Chase's job. 6/15/2026 -- Royally ticked off at Chase for arresting Tracy over Wallow. Tells Dante that she wants no part of this situation. 6/16/2026 -- questions Cassius about Sidwell's escape;  6/25/2026 -- wants the A. D.A. to get him a warrant for a "blink". She says there isn't enough for a warrant, though she's interested. Joe rats Chase out for blocking Wallow from talking to him 6/26/2026 -- tasks Cassius with finding Sidwell. Ava offers up her books to prove she was just selling art. Sidwell walks in with a gun
Congresssman Ezra Boyle   Added 6/18/2026 -- quick "hello" from Jacinda; wants to celebrate being free of Sidwell with Laura and Jordan. Summoned to a room by Jacinda, but it was just Sidwell (and a cloned phone) waiting for him. 6/29/2026 -- forced to smuggle Sidwell to Marco and Lucas' house. Fitz and Cassius are on a stake-out and follow them in. Guns are drawn, and Cassius' identity is revealed by Sidwell. Ezra is scared s**tless. 6/30/2026 -- Guns go back and forth, and Cassius hits Fitz over the head, lets Sidwell go (no gun, tho) and asks Ezra to let him go and call an ambulance for Fitz. Ezra considers leaving him, but decides to do the right thing and calls 9-1-1, getting ice for itz, etc.

Dr. Liesl Obrecht Added   6/9/2026 -- "Nathan" enters the room that Liesl and Joss are being held in. Liesl excitedly expects him to rescue them, but Joss prompts him to reveal the truth. He is Cassius, Nthan's twin that Madeline gave to Cesar when the twins were born. Liesl explains that she was told her second child was stillborn after a C-Section and was unaware that he lived. He tells her Nathan is dead. She slaps him, upset about how this will affect James. Cassius explains that Cullum and Sidwell will kill him if she doesn't finish the project. Angry as she is, she agrees so that she can get to know this son... 6/11/2026 -- Tells Joss that Britt had truly done a wonderful job. She won't let Cassius die. Josslyn fills Liesl in on how much Cassius really has come to love his family 6/30/2026 --Liesl has finished the prototype. Joss is furious. She tell Liesl that Cassius will abandon them and hurt James' feelings Liesl responds that she relived Nathan's death, but Cassius is still her son..
W. S. B. Director Ross Cullum Andrew Hawkes 6/11/2026 -- Abrupt with Carly and Ava at Wyndemere. the housekeeper, Denise, gives Cullum a ring she found. Carly recognizes the ring as Josslyn's. Time to kill Josslyn, but Cassius prevents him, saying he'll have to kill him first 6/16/2026 -- cocerned with Britt and Rocco's disappearance. Tells Harker he needs it to be referred to as a kidnapping so they can keep an eye on the investigation. 6/17/2026 -- too many coincidences; asks Lulu about Rocco; Searches Carly's house but finds nothing. 6/24/2026 -- finds Cassius at Wyndemere. notes the meds are missing. Harker tells him Cassius went to the post office. Tells Harker the vials were tainted, Britt's a dead woman. 6/25/2026 -- Cullum arrives at the station to intimidate Danny and Alexis , yet neither breaks. Cullum won't press charges against Danny for breaking into the W. S. B.. Unnerves Alexis. 6/29/2026 -- Waiting for his plans to come together. Tells Cassius to make sure Sidwell dies. 6/30/2026 -- Gleefully tells Brennan he added a DNR to Brennan's W. S. B. papers. Restrains him; reveals he knows he's faking, and drops an aerosol container of gas on his bed. Smiles and leaves to see the project.
Dr. Britt Westbourne... Added -- 6/18/2026 with Rocco on Tortola in the Virgin Islands. She has symptoms and passes out. 6/19/2026 -- Britt needs Rocco to get supplies. Unbeknownst to Britt, Rocco calls Charlotte and asks her to have "Nathan" send her meds. The two continue to bond.   6/24/2026 -- Britt reveals she only had food poisoning. Rocco is relieved, but he already sent for her medication. Britt reveals it's only a matter of time until she starts to show symptoms again -- he agreed to leave if this happened. Rocco tells her he won't abandon her. 6/25/2026 --Tortola; surprised to see Dante and Lulu; They bicker over Rocco, who arrives with her meds. He won't abandon her 6/26/2026 -- Lulu doesn't want Britt with them, but sees how upset Rocco is about abandoning her. Stung that Rocco loves Britt, but leaves the decision to stay together up to Britt. She won't join them, but promises Rocco will see her again. Dante, Lulu and Rocco exit. After they leave, Britt goes to inject herself. The Local Tortola Police break down the door.

He tells Nina she's just busy doing something. Talks to Lulu about how sorry he is about Rocco, that Britt will protect him, and they agree to let the anger between them go. 6/16/2026 -- no word on Rocco, on Justine's hit list for losing Sidwell. 6/18/2026 -- with Nina who is now very worried about Liesl. Cassius tries to convince Nina she's off looking for Britt. 6/19/2026 -- Felicia wants him to spend more time with James. Cassius worries he'll just disappoint his nephew son. She invites him to the batting cages with James next week. He thinks Maxie and Spinelli are much better for James. After Danny and Charlotte give him the address where Rocco and Britt are, he brings it to Lulu and Dante. "Please don't hurt Britt when you go to get him" is all he asks. 6/22/2026 -- Cassius, Dante and Lulu go round and round over blame and wanting the source of the address. Cassius doesn't reveal where he got the info. 6/24/2026 -- Steals Britt's meds from the safe at Wyndemere and sends them; with James at the MCPool. Cullum had Harker tailing him. 6/25/2026 -- Cassius with Josslyn because Cullum won't allow him to see Liesl. Josslyn tells him he got his way, Liesl is trying to save his life, but then attempts guilting him into giving her a gun... 6/26/2026 -- tasked by Turner to find Sidwell; Laura and Jordan tell him about the house Jenz bought for Lucas and Marco.. He tells them to beware leaks. 6/29/2026 -- Cullum insists that Sidwell must die. Cassius joins Fitz at the stake out at the house Sidwell bought. Sidwell rats him out to Fitz. 6/30/2026 --- Sidwell revealed his identity to Fitz, Cassius knocks him out; lets Jenz go, and wants Ezra to help Fitz. Cassius heads to the batting cages to see James. Cody is listening to messages as Cassius is walking away with James

Sonny just needs info about Sidwell. 6/30/2026 -- after the MC Pool with Nina and Ava (guard duty) Justine comes to Ava's gallery to ask her about Sidwell. While they go through the accounts, Sidwell arrives with gun in hand

He thinks Sidwell has an inside man in the police force. Asks Lucas a question about saline in the syringe from Britt's room. 6/22/2026 -- meets Lucy and she tells him that Wallow left the Q's the night of Jordan's accident and was on the stetch of road the accident happened on. He'll be going to check her alibi. 6/23/2026 -- asking Wallow about her whereabouts the night of the accident when Chase intervenes. Fitz excuses himself to use the lavatory, instead questioning Drew about where Wallow was that night. Drew blinks "yes" that she was on the highway. (bwahaha). 6/25/2026 -- wants the A. D.A. to get him a warrant for a "blink". She says there isn't enough for a warrant, though she's interested. Joe rats Chase out for blocking Wallow from talking to him. 6/26/2026 -- questions Wallow, runs her trip gauge. 6/29/2026 -- sent to stake out the house Sidwell bought for Marco and Lucas. Cassius joins him . They see Sidwell climb out of Ezra's trunk. Joe wants to go in. Cassius and Fitz go in, guns out, but Sidwell reveals Nathan is Cassius. 6/30/2026 -- Fitz learns Nathan's secret -- he's Cassius. Sidwell wants Cassius to kill Joe, bur Cassius knocks him out. Lets Sidweel go. He asks Ezra to stay with Fitz and get help for him Ezra wants to leave, but ultimately sticks around to take care of him.
