OK. So, third day watching and IMO third day of good soap. And I got to see my boy Rex again today :D:D

This is the first time I've seen that Gigi girl, but my first impression is not good. Are her and Rex supposed to be the star crossed lovers in this SL? If so......hmmmm.... jury is still out on that one for me.

And IMO, it's kind of obvious that Star is thinking of giving her baby to that Marcy (I think that was the lady's name in the park) woman. I'm still trying to learn all the ins and outs of the characters here, so I'm not sure of Star/Marcy's relationship dynamic. But that's what it seemed like to me. Cole obviously wants her to keep the baby too.

The rest of the show - the shoot-em outs and that girl in a hosp bed were ok. But since I don't know what's going on there anyway..... I don't understand how that girl was in a hosp bed in an apartment. Was the guy holding her against her will or something???

Anyway. I liked the show today.

Greg, you might be scratching your head for awhile here. There's BOATLOADS of history at work here. Like the woman being in the bed was once gang-raped, led by Todd, the guy who found her at the end, back in college. And then she fell in love with John. Oh, and the father of Starr's baby is her son, and they all think she's dead. Marcie adopted baby Sam when he was born, and raised him for a year before learning he was Todd's. And kidnapped him. Don't give up watching... but I'm just giving you a head's up you might have mental whiplash a few times in the coming weeks.

^^^ Thanks for the info, brimike. Yeah, it does seem like there's a lot of relationship dynamics that I'm not aware of because of history. I haven't tried picking up a new soap in, oh, like 30 years or so... :) But I am liking what I'm seeing now. Such a stark difference from GL (no surprise there)!

Since there's been so much action and it's only THURSDAY, I am really really curious what the cliffhanger is going to be tomorrow. :)

You're totally pulling my leg.

Fine. I accept it. Because there's something about FF I'm not seeing. I never thought she fit in on this show, and while I love the idea of Rex and Gigi, I just wish she'd be recast with somebody young and fresh and talented and doesn't shout or shriek or over-emote.

IA. What is the point of lecturing now? We already saw Dorian try to push Langston into an abortion, so it would have been a redux if Blair did the same. Dorian is the type of character who can make cold blooded smart decisions. Blair seems to want Starr to have the baby, which I can also understand. Blair is really in an impossible situation. I think it would be very hard for a mother to encourage their own child to have an abortion. even if it is (imo) the smartest choice and easiest way out in this case.

Fantastic episode! How fitting for it to be Todd the one who found Marty! Great nod to history there.

Holy crap, Ramsey is dead!!?? WOAH!!! Totally did not expect that!

Go Jonas! I agree with people here, to bad they he didn't shoot John a few more times.

Keyes: "Maybe Marcie was there first, you know, jogging or whatever."

Todd: "Yeah right, Marcie exercising."

David Vickers is Tina's dog's name! LMAO

I would go straight for Andrea Evans. STRAIGHT. Not bi, but STRAIGHT. I am in love.

First of all, as many have said, David Vickers as the dog's name is just one big

For some reason, I laughed so hard at the line "Oh dear God, it's not our time." It was totally campy, and a throwback to some of the situations Tina got herself into in the 80s.

AE is rockin' the black outfit, the sunglasses, and the show in general. I liked the more serious moment in the limo, where she and Jonas drove by Llanfair, and he acted surprised that she knew the place. I liked when she said "This is no ordinary town, and that's no ordinary house."

And LMAO at Tina high-tailing it out of the penthouse with the jewels. This is very true to Tina Lord's character, that she would be back in her old stomping grounds, but more concerned with some frickin' jewels than seeing her sister, or her DAUGHTER!

I enjoyed all of Todd's commentary on his sister, but was a bit confused about him saying "Wasn't she run out of town a few years ago?" That is not how KT's Tina left.

Lots of action today.

Brandon Buddy has a really nice ass, I was noticing in the pants he was wearing in the park scenes.

Marty was good. SH hasn't really had to do anything besides fall out of bed, but it's still nice to see her on the screen. Doesn't really seem like the character was just on last year, though.

I enjoyed Marcie and Starr very much, although I agree that they were LAYING IT ON THICK with the foreshadowing.

Gigi kind of annoys me, not because of Farrah's performance, but just because when there are too many lies on a soap, I get annoyed, and Rex really does NOT need another person lying to him right now.

Oh, and I'm sorry I falsely reported that KDP got Performer of the Week in SOD, when it looks like it was Farrah Fath. I was just going on the information a friend sent me.

Rock on, OLTL.

Oh yeah, John McBain was shot. That surprised me, but I don't really care.

    • I like that there are a lot of local performers on this soap and I'm glad they've resisted so far on hiring too many soap performers.   Cady has been awkward on the show thus far and Jon seems to have polarizing as well. I say focus on the local talent and giving those people a job and exposure.. and leave the P & G soap opera performers in the past.
    • Who do you think would be good for the show among the ATWT/GL cast?

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.
