LOL Pia, if Zendall are considered forced, I shudder to think what an actual forced couple is? They had the slowest slow burn of any soap couple I've ever seen ;)

Definitely! LOL you said it Adam! Every character on this show has the same conversations over and over, ie: Kendall & Aidan talking about their guilt for 3 freaking months, Richie & Annie talking about him needing a donor for over two. Jesse & Angie are starting to get repetitive....

So a woman can't be married, can't have children and be a success at the same time?

People grow. And as they grow their priorities change. Kendall may not be the person she thought ten years ago she would become, but that doesn't make her a failure. She represents every woman who currently struggles to have it all: successful career, wonderful marriage, beautiful children. There is absolutely no reason why she should have to sacrifice one for the other. Personally, I enjoy the fact she can be a hard-nosed bitch and in the next second melt at the sight of her children. That's real life.

If anything has made her lose her fire, it has been the constant ass-kissing of the Sainted Ryan Lavery. The writers are doing a great disservice to this character by having her apologizing on a daily basis to this [!@#$%^&*], after all that he has done and put her through. The day TPTB allow Kendall to tell him to go to hell and smack him upside the head instead of kowtowing to his highness is the day that Kendall will have her fire back.

Amen!

I completely agree. Kendall has matured and I personally like to see growth and maturity with the characters. Unfortunately B&E are trying their best to ruin any maturity and growth that some of the characters have made, by having them behave like a bunch of teenagers instead of married parents.

Zach and Kendall are anything but forced IMO. They were certainly not rushed or forced together.

As for the Annie and Zach scenes, well I got a headache from rolling my eyes during their scenes. I mean come on all Annie has done lately is whine her butt off to Zach about Ryan. Granted Ryan is acting like a dick, but enough with the damn whining already, Annie. I say that Annie either becomes an active participant in trying to help her husband remember her and his children or she needs to get a divorce and shut the hell up already. Annie's constant whining is just grating on my last nerve. Ryan is also bugging me acting like a needy stalker towards Kendall, but oddly enough Annie is bugging me even more. For someone who supposedly loves her husband she seems to be pretty quick to call her marriage quits. I will admit Annie was not as whiny today as she usually is, but she still bugged me. I also have a big problem with her using Zach as a shoulder to cry on when not even a year ago she ran screaming (literally) out of Zen's home because she thought Zach was evil, and then she went on to encourage Greenleech to have Zach thrown in jail. Now the man she was treating like he was evil, is now good enough to listen to her whine? Whatever, I think she is a selfish hypocrite. JMO

I didn't say that. However Kendell is not the Kendell she was before. I think that's pretty clear. If it's a question of if the version is popular or not isn't really my point. My point is that this isn't Kendell and Kendell has been extremely domesticated and a watered down version of herself for YEARS now and that seemed to take place more or less during the Zendell years. Some posters were irritated that Adam lost many of his Adam like qualities during his marriage to Krystal. I am simply pointing out that the same exact thing happened to Kendell.

The fact that they gave Kendell children at all completely changed the character, especially since Kendell never even wanted children to begin with. Saddling the character with two children back to back was a major mistake in story direction. Especially since Kendell didn't want children. They shouldn't have gave her children so quickly and in rapid succession. More over Kendell didn't need to be married off so soon as well either. I didn't see the problem with having a successful, unattached single woman on AMC anyway. Instead they turned her into this Dixie-lite mommy. Which wasn't needed. Kendell simply doesn't work as a soccer mom and she isn't supposed to. Kendell isn't a bitch. She hasn't been one in years. She is a marsh mellow compared to the person she was before and she was far more rootable as the outsider anyway. The fact that Kendell was a both a villainous and a heroine made her interesting and complex. When we saw her fight what she wanted we rooted right along side her.

Kendell will never have her fire back until she divorces Zach and is written like she was back in 02-04

Yeah, I'm bored to death. I wish we had more of Amanda to spice things up, and not just be a prop for Babe to dish about sex with JR. Everything seems just so pointless. The only good thing was the end w/ Ryan/Kendall and Krystal moving back in to Adam's place.

Obviously you prefer the self-loathing, I'm not good enough for Ryan Lavery so let me drown myself in the ocean version of Kendall.

Me, not so much. I also prefer to see a character grow and change and not remain the same person year after year after year. If I was a fan of that I would have enjoyed Greenlee throwing her temper tantrum in Fusion today. But yet, I didn't. I much preferred the woman who sat and told her ex in a civilized manner that it wasn't going to happen between them, that she was in love with her husband.

Obviously AMC agreed with you, hence the return of "real" Greenlee. She is most certainly a character that has NEVER changed.

WORD KZ!!!!

Of course Kendall isn't the same, she's grown and changed as ALL soap characters should do.

Uhm yeah, I agree, no thanks. I don't get why some think that "killmyselfovermyabuser" Kendall has to be THAT Kendall still? If I wanted a character who didn't grow or change I'd be a Greenlee, Babe or KWAK Fan

I'm marrying this post and the last part :D

    • I tend to have two minds about Tawny (Kathy Najimy) fainting during Soapdish's big reveal. You're the costume designer, if anything, you should have known the whole time. I guess it's an application of what TV Tropes calls the "Rule of Funny." Every time I watch Delirious, I always want the genuine romance in John and Mariel's reunion at the deli counter to last longer. Film critics had their knives out for Sally in this period. I'll start a separate thread on the movies page.
    • I don't think so, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was Dumas this whole time.
    • Tamara Tunie was serving up grand dame diva fierceness.
    • Nick told Victoria that he and Sharon had married in England.  Victoria was shocked.  Then she realized he was kidding.  He confirmed it was a joke and they're platonic. I don't even know what to say about that.
    • It's funny you say that because part of the entertainment of the trials on the show are all the day players who come on as witnesses and jurors.  I'm certain it was like the Law and Order of its time. It employed so many New York actors, that if you look close enough, there's usually someone vaguely recognizable in the courtroom.
    • I will defend Dante.  People already suspect he may be a bit unstable from time to time (from his time as a prisoner).  And, he's taking care of other people's kids from time to time.  So, he has reason to be cautious with those in his care.
    • Josh continues to try and milk Abbott/Newman rivalry. First it was Billy/Victoria, then Kyle/Summer, then Noah/Allie (that worked out well) and now Kyle/Claire. Do we have any inkling when Billy Flynn will arrive and who he will play? I'm sure Cole's illness will mostly play offscreen. What's in store for Nick and Sharon? Is it time to put them back together? I can't see any other romantic options. Nick has no children on the canvas to play off, as Christian is never seen. Sharon has only Mariah onscreen.
    • I would appreciate (if they're not coming), for future scripts to refer to them by their iconic hairdos.  For example, if Hope needs to call Chelsea because Bo has Sepsis, I'd like Shawn-D to say, "My Mom called Chelsea (the one with the sassy short black hair) for an update." Also, new rule, if Melanie does return, she needs to dye her hair back to red.  I googled who she was five times during Victor's funeral.

    • Broderick, thank you for all of the info [I edited for space]. I am so grateful for everyone filling in the blanks for me. I suspected the Nora/Eliot scene was very important and it was setting something up but I didn't know what. Can't wait to see it play out. The two actors had such a great back and forth. I should have made the Paige/Patty Hearst connection. I thought Paige was in love with Brian from the first episode I watched but it seemed as if they were brother and sister. Steve kept being affectionate with her so I assumed he was the love interest. Then she was affectionate with someone else and well..she's a very busy woman. I can't wait to see Frances Fisher show up. (I'm trying to be vague because I don't know what would be a spoiler in this storyline) Now it makes sense why Draper would be upset. I didn't get the whole background of why he didn't go to NY. I'm a sucker for good acting, so I might still side with April and Margo, if the writers don't give Draper more to do besides yelling.  He had more chemistry with Logan, but I know that's not happening.  Something else I noticed: the show really takes care with even the smallest parts. The acting is superb. Too often, I noticed on older soaps they don't take care with the recurring or day players (Ryan's Hope was so bad with this that I couldn't make it through some episodes). It's only been six episodes, but so far, the casting department was spot on.
    • I thought Dante was overreacting.  Gio made some mistakes but he's young and he tried.  It's not like he dragged two 14 years to a party and made them get blackout drunk.  Dante can have the initial upset reaction, but to go on and on was a bit much.
