Members PhoenixRising05
Even if they did ask him, I doubt he would return anyway. Billy hated what happened during his last stint and I think that bridge has been burned. Besides, I get the feeling he would be like SN and MBE and would not want to return just for two days. MBE always said she would never return for short visits because they were like filler and did nothing but tease the fans with a return. I don't necessarily agree with it but whatever. Having said all that, I'm pretty sure they contacted Billy since they went and got Patsy. I just didn't see him doing it. Today was beautiful. Loved the scene with all the Brady children together at the coffin. Wonderful eulogies and acting. Directing was superb and that final montage with Nadia singing (I was wondering when Chloe would finally sing again) and everyone putting a memento on the coffin was well-done. The flashbacks were expertly chosen and fitting and I love how we saw everyone in the Church disappear during the montage so all we were left with was Shawn's wife and kids. Seeing the Brady siblings together and watching as Caroline recited those beautiful words and said goodbye was so touching. Peggy McKay was awesome there. It was so nice seeing Kim back so we can have all the siblings together. Seeing Kim and Kayla together was so great. I also agree about Josh. Whatever has gotten into him he needs to keep doing. Also love Kim vs Victor. Nice history touches there and Bo and Roman's banter. The sibling banter was welcome and so realistic. Also loved the Sami/EJ/Philip/Chloe scene. Lots of snark there. Members KevC1980
Incredible episode..i'm typing now in tears over that final beautiful montage..Days has been getting me to cry quite a bit lately, thats impressive..First off what a treat to have Kimberly back..Yes her look was a little distracting, but she's such an important character to the history of Days and Pop Shawn..I really appreciated that they brought up the history of Kim and Victor a bit today..And i loved Victor's line about Shawn and Caroline raising feisty children..Also i really enjoyed the John, Marlena, and Roman scenes..Once again John has some great lines.. The funeral was incredible..So nice to see Lexie, Abe, Maggie, EJ, Phillip, Chloe, Victor, Nick, John, Marlena and so many other characters there to show their support to the Brady's..The eulogies were all very well done..I especially liked Romans, Kayla's and Bo's...The flashback's were such a nice treat..I commend Days on using them...Loved seeing Mary Beth, Frank Parker, Peggy, and Peter back in the 80s..Jeez Bo's hair was so long back then!!!!And i liked that Roman mentioned how John helped pay for the Brady Pub, as i had forgotten all about that..GREAT JOB writers.. Finally, that closing montage was abosolutely fantastic..I loved how we saw the whole cast lining up to either put a rose or a gift on the coffin..Steve gave a harmonica (great history nod there), Shawn and Belle gave a flask, Marlena gave a bible, Maggie gave a rosary i believe, and i couldn't tell what Victor gave..But that scene was just wonderful..Then the show ended perfectly with Caroline and the kids saying one last final goodbye..I loved how everyone had a person to hug..and by the time Caroline's said her goodbye poem and we saw her flashback (which in a way gave us a little Alice) , i was balling.. Finally, one last comment....This was a incredibly well written episode and just as good as John's funeral and the other exceptional episodes that Hogan's team wrote..Nice to know we are still capable of getting episodes like this.. Members Roman
Ok. Question. Does this episode rival John's funeral?
Members LoveDays
OMG! This episode was so FANTASTIC! Talk about crying during the montage, I was in TEARS and they just wouldn stop rolling. First off, can I just say that Peggy McKaay ROCKS! She is so great! She is what definitely did it for me! That poem Caroline said to Shawan's coffin and her crying, that's real emotionright there, and then telling Shawn that she will love him forever...OMG I could not stop crying, even as I type this, I'm tearing up! When the writers can pull that dialogue and really fill it with emotion and then actresses and actors just make those words come along, oohhhh, it's just GREAT! DAYS has been great for weeks, everyone needs to get into watching it again. Everyone was absolutely WONDERFUL! Bo, Kayla, Kimberly and Roman were great. They really pulled you in with the crying, tears and eulogies. Can't say it enough on how the funeral was wonderful and really had me crying. Everyone placing gifts son the casket was beautiful. And that song, Chloe sang was beautiful. Nadia hass a beautiful voice. I too loved the Kim and Vitcor scenes. All I kept saying when hey were on screen together was, "GOSH, all that HISTORY between those two!" Loved it! I enjoyed having all the Brady children on screen together. I love Steve and Kayla! And so glad that they are back. I hope that Kim and Shane can join them as well. Again LOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEEEDDDDDD this episode. GREAT JOB Peggy McKay, SHE NEEDS TO WIN AN EMMY! Her performances have been heartflt and great!
Administrator Toups Posted February 28, 2008 Administrator Share Posted February 28, 2008 Sure it rivals John's funeral. But I have to rank John's funeral just a little higher than Grampa Shawn's. I thought John's eulogies were better written and more emotional. Both were the best I've ever seen on daytime though. The funerals had different writers and different directors, but the only same factor they both had are Ed Scott and Noel Maxam as producers. Members KevC1980
Very true..He's a genius..But ever since Hogan's team got fired, there have been people blasting the writing and saying how well written Hogan's episodes were in comparison (John's death for instance)..Well today just solidified for me that we still can get quality episodes like that with the new regime.. Members maconrich
For me the dialogue has been hit or miss but seems to be coming out ok more often than not recently. At first it hit me like someone could write and someone else couldn't, so I don't know if practice is helping, they're maybe not as rushed or the better writer is helping the not so good one. Regardless the funeral was well done and the montage was effective and emotional. Loved the flashbacks, and it didn't bother me that Frankie wasn't there or that Max left -- having the original Brady "children" and Caroline together felt right. Chloe singing was a nice touch, and the final scenes felt stark and uncontrived - allowing the raw emotion to come through with little to no dialogue. A sad episode but a very good one. Members Marlenafan01
I wish TPTB would give Patsy Pease a contract and bring her back to the show. She is so talented and is needed on the canvas. I think they could lure Charles (Shane) back for a 6 month contract and reunite Kim and Shane. They deserve to have a happy ending and closure. We all should email asking for this.
