My buddy read this in the "industry insider" section of the new Soap Opera Weekly. What do ya think?

Sources say Y&R's LML who was named head writer in February 06 and has served as both execP and HW since October 06 has been let go. Sony exec Steve Kent is reportidly running the show until a repleacement is found. Kent's title is sr. exec vp of programming and he overseas Y&R and Days. It is unclear who is writing the show at press time.

Y&R would only say that LML, a member of the writing guild, is on strike.

Of course, I am worried about the competence of who they will replace her with.... Unless it's Alden and maybe, MAYBE Smith.

So it seems the only real death at Clear Springs was LML...

We can only hope and pray that this is true. She destroyed the only US daytime soap I was into. At this point how do you fix it? The characters are all destroyed. EVERY single one of them has done something that could/did/or will put them in prison, it's all they talk about every episode and they never learn from any sort of mistake...the characters aren't worth rooting for anymore...no idea how someone puts this once great soap back together...!

It will have to take a solid year of good and un-bias character driven writing to bring these characters back into reality. It's doable, but also probably something we won't get.

You start by re-casting Cane (I can't even look at that guy's face...it's worse than when Devon is on-screen, both actors just kill any scene they are in), you get Adrianne Leon (SP?) back as Colleen (everytime I see Talentless Schmuck or whatever her name is I have to stop and figure out how she knows the people she is in scenes with), you get rid of dead weight like Heather (what a bizarre character she is), Amber (what is she even doing on the show), Jana (JANA>she's back why?), and Jeffrey (a dead characters twin that sucks worse than the original horrible character named Jeffrey...it feels like Guiding Light and Prince Richard all over again). I'd also like to see someone fix Nick's amnesia...boy that was a plot that really worked wasn't it? Sigh.

Won't we have fun with the huge threads when she's gone on LML's worst moments! LOL!

I agree with all of this, except for Cane and Noah. I wouldn't miss Cane, but I don't get why everyone seems to dislike him so much. The same for Noah. No, wait, I do understand about Noah, but I think it would be a mistake to eliminate another Sharon and Nick Newman child.

I'd actually keep Heather around. She's like Christine without the bubbly veneer. Besides, Y&R needs more characters that work outside of Genoa City's business dynasties.
