If they are willing to increase budgets, and are concerned when it comes to writer effectiveness, then I think that may bode well for soaps on CBS (or at least Y&R) for at least some time to come. After all, he and Steve Kent actually worked together many years ago at 'Santa Barbara'... That being said, I hope all of these rumors are true and that bitch LML is ousted from the show she never had any business working on in the first place. They can't fire Latham as a writer, since that's against the union laws. If Griffith is indeed EP, who will handle the writing duties? I know Griffith is also a writer, but for the longterm and once the strike is over, who will write the show? It can't possibly be Griffith since he's gone FiCore, and I'm sure that will hurt his future as a writer for not only Y&R, but for future shows/projects. His job was to essentially oversee the work of the lower-level producers on the show. I don't think he had much, if any, contact with the writers of the show. It seems like the Bell family have either been forced out or they just don't care to fight for the show anymore. While on Days, Corday seems to prove some type of balance from Sony's interference. Griffith screwed over LML to get her EP position so I highly doubt they're going to friendly towards each other. LOL LML will either be gone as HW when: 1. 8 weeks into the strike (so around January 5) when force majeure can happen 2. If the strike ends and force majeure cannot happen, LML will be gone at the end of her next cycle If #2 happens, I think LML will only be HW in name only (LML won't be able to drive any storylines) because Josh will be in full control as the EP and he'll probably hire a new Head Writer too. All they would confirm to SOW is that Steve Kent would be holding down the Executive Producer duties, until the strike is over. Since Griffith is now FiCore, they could've easily cited him in the article. Unless Griffith is working under Kent or he's planning to leave Y&R or something. Also, it could also be that Latham and Griffith struck up this deal. Since Griffith is no longer involved in the writing duties of the show, Latham probably wanted him to stick on Y&R during the strike, just to push her agenda/creative ideas. Who knows why Sony is waiting (if true of course). Yes, it's a posibility, but I don't think Josh would go on Fi-Core only to play second fiddle to LML when she comes back. I don't think Josh has his head so far up LML's ass that he would do this favor for her. What does Josh gain by doing this? I really think Josh wants more power and control of Y&R. If Sony can argue that Lathams primary employment was being an executive producer (eg.: she has a co-headwriter and an enormous "writing" staff... ) than her showing bad faith through not shwoing up to work could serve as valid reason to cann her eniterely even through her strike right as a writer remains...
