Do you have a facebook? Because I think you would find more like-minded individuals in a facebook group like "addicted to general hospital" or "days of our lives fanatics". They both move fairly quickly, and I think would be much more receptive to your ideas. I'm a newbie too, so I can't speak for the group, but really, no one here is very fond of having Jason, Chelsea, and Stephanie shoved down our throats. We get enough of that on our television screens.

You guys said that far better than I ever could. And I don't think its rude or mean at all.

I feel like this is the type of forum where people are encouraged to have their opinions and favorites, it still needs to have basis other than "OMG, like...AWESOME!"

I'm dating myself, but people like King and Toups, we were all teenagers when we started posting on the boards. And when I started out, I was a total Reilly fangurl and I still get excited when I hear a mention of DAYS from 93-97, because it's what started it all. But, even at age like 14/15, we still knew what the heck was going on with the rest of the industry and were open to other people's ideas.

Gracie, if anything, I'm glad to see younger people like you posting on the boards and actually taking the time to analyze stuff beyond what is surface.

No matter what, he finds a way to bring them up into the topic. He's been told on more than one occasion if he wants to promote his love for those characters, there's a place to do that. I think members are just annoyed by the repetitive posts, and then getting "yelled" at if they don't like his favorites. Being accused of actor bashing on a regular basis isn't fun.

Here's an addendum for the criteria of my selection. It would be so easy to pick many characters who've been thrilling over the years, but the reality is that there are only so many archetypes to go around, and they've likely been done before. I wouldn't pick James Stenbeck, because when he showed up in Oakdale Roger Thorpe on GL was already the type of man he would become. Lisa on ATWT was the template many diva-like characters have been molded after, but for me only Erica and Reva truly measure up and deserve a place on the list. It also helped me to ignore characterizations. If I was reading a book, would this character fascinate me?

There are so many more that I just couldn't think of off the top of my head...so many great characters on soap operas. I personally have always liked the "bad guys" better than the "good guys" on most occasions...and I've always loved the classic villians like Helena on GH and Stefano on Days.
