What an idiotic tagline! If you're dead, how can you love and for what love did you die?

Thank you because that question has nothing to do with any of the scenes depicted in those promos and they have not previewed anything that is remotely related to that tagline. They probably thought it was provocative enough to catcher viewers' attention but it's not being backed up by anything. Someone needs to sacrifice himself for a loved one for it to make sense and even then it won't apply to every single person in the promos.

In the run-up to these shitastic promos, one imagines the meeting over at ABC Daytime went something like this:

8117601.jpg

"Love in the Afternoon." What does that mean? Do you know anything about this?

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

*grunt* Never heard of it.

1011612.jpg

Oh! I know! I know!

8117601.jpg

Speak, woman.

1011612.jpg

Well, Brian, back when I was on multiple-Emmy-award wining Santa Barbara©, ABC ran those promos called "Love in the Afternoon." They were meant to promote their Daytime line-up as being chock-full of romance, love and excitement!

8117601.jpg

Huh?

8117601.jpgth_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg1011612.jpg

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

8117601.jpg

*wipes eyes* Oh, Jill, sometimes you really kill me with your outlandish stories. Hey, does Liza Minelli know you stole her entire look?

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

Uh. So. Can I go now?

8117601.jpg

Not so fast. The Board of Governors want us to start promoting "love" and "romance" on our shows. Can we utilize this "Love in the Afternoon" sh!t or something? Update it from the 1980s? I know how much you enjoy recycling, Bob.

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

"Love"? Sounds SO totally gay.

1011612.jpg

Gay = VERY hot right now! Look at ATWT.

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

We ALREADY covered gay issues on GH, Jill! I'm done with that SL.

8117601.jpg

Woah, now. Who said anything about gay? I'm talking Romance. With a capital "r"! That means Carly. Lulu. Jason!

1011612.jpg

Because nothing says romance quite like a brain-dead assassin threatening his ex-girlfriend.

8117601.jpg

Ex-ACT-ly!

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

Hmmmm. Assassin... You know, I'm thinking the only way to update these Love promos is to bring Death into the equation.

8117601.jpg

Go on.

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

Jason and Sonny are dedicated to a heroic cause: wiping out the scum of Port Charles. Even if it means they have to deal with death a lot. They can't help it! That's the life they chose!

8117601.jpg

Keep talkin.

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

If their chicks don't like it, they just gonna have to deal.

8117601.jpg

I'm not seeing the "Love" part yet.

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

See, that's how somebody like Liz can prove her Love to Jason! By understanding that this is merely a lifestyle choice. And not something he does because he's a sociopathic mob enforcer. Y'know?

I'm thinking we could call it: "Would You Die For Love?"

8117601.jpg

Death... Love... it's all in there, for sure. The kids are gonna eat this one up! Can we shoehorn Lulu/Logan, Sonny/Kate, Nikolas/Emily into these promos as well?

th_robert_guza_jr_01.jpg

Sure. I can tweak the SLs so that Death and Destruction comes their way, too. That way it will all fit the marketing campaign and make perfect sense!

I read that and I thought that sounds exactly like their meeting probably went. Love and death is in there and who cares if it's irrelevant to what is shown. Kudos Cat!!!!
