I just watched Thursday's US episode (Canada's Wenesday episode) and John's funeral is the BEST soap funeral I have ever seen. Words cannot describe the level of acting, emotion, production and casting this show brings to a vetern character's funeral. Truly Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't cried this much watching an episode since Stone died on GH. The acting was amazing, the dialog was amazing and everything was just filled with emotion.

Any time John & Marlena were in the same frame it made me cry. Whether you like John or not, no one can deny the chemistry and love between John & Marlena. They are probably the best couple to ever exist on a soap. Their love had stood the test of time and as a fan and has been an exciting ride to follow in my young 21 years on this earth.

I am angry that I've been robbed of the chance to see them over the past year the way they should have been...front and center. But I'll embrace the time I did have with them. Remember the good times and the bad, and reflect on how lucky I was to have been part of many to follow their amazing love story.

The only part of the episode that I didn't like was anything involving the younger set. IMO, more respect should have been shown. Hell, fill those scenes with flashbacks of John & Marlena for all I care.

***k the younger set. They will never be able to create the same kind of emotional connection w/ their fans the way the other characters have. Damn it....

They kind of brought the whole cast out today, which was nice, and it was nice they sort of connected the John storyline with the teen stuff, but overall the sorority house was such an intrusion. The Nick/Jeremy/Maggie stuff was at least more serious so it wasn't as jarring. Still, I wouldn'tve minded if all of today was at the hospital. Yay Maggie, yay Kate, it was good seeing them (I agree it'd be nice if Maggie was there for Marlena).

Martha and Joe are my MVP's of the day, though just about everyone at the hospital was doing well (was not feeling Ali though).

Sad day, touching last moments for the DH's. They should have had more material coming in to this. It'd only be fair that Dee gets something substantial coming out of it. Farewell John Black!

    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.
