CBS would love to meddle in B&B but the hard truth is that they don't have any say because Brad Bell doesn't let them. Brad, like his dad, doesn't like network interference and so when Barbara Bloom calls she gets hung up on. Period.

Kay Alden quit Y&R because she HATES what LML has done to Y&R and didn't agree with her at all. Period.

Janice Ferri Esser quit Y&R because she doesn't like LML's vision and doesn't like working with her. So when Brad Bell made her an offer she didn't refuse. Period.

And Brad Bell is younger than either of them and he will never give up creative or financial control for as long as he is able. Kay Alden and Janice Ferri Esser are not power hungry cows...they are simply great writers who like working in a positive environment like the one Brad Bell has at B&B. Whether RuAsRuAnAu believes it or not Brad Bell is a well liked person by those who work for him and is a very decent person. Period.

What B&B needs to do is expand to 1 hour. I don't see this happening so to do something about this they need to stay consistent with the characters. IMO Bold has a history of bringing on a bunch of new characters and then getting rid of them. They need to keep them on and weave them into the show. The show is about fashion well bring in a new family run fashion house. It will be corporate battles and love in the afternoon. With Susan in bad health they need to find a new matriarch of the show maybe Taylor or Brooke of their respective branches of the Forrester family. They need to also branch away from the fashion and bring in real storylines for Bridget she is doctor(?) why dont they have her at a hospital. I think bringing on Jake McClain is a great move for the Felicia character but for how long will that last. The show takes place in LA there is no reason why the same characters are hooking up with each other. All in all B&B needs to revamp the show or they will not survive

A very good post, mackey. This is what I've been saying for some time now, and yet it falls on deaf ears. Sadly, Ryan's Hope, Santa Barbara & Another World did not get a chance to re-invent themselves like GH did in 1977.

I'd like to read more of your B&B ideas on how to revamp the show. Please send me a message via SON.

    • Yes, of course, all of those servants added to the overall picture at AW & also people had relationships with those servants! I like it when Anita asks after one of the servants at the club, how their children are doing & like that.
    • Great scenes between Marlena and EJ today. Paula and Jeanne are making EJ have more depth than Ron had during his long drawn out tenure.
    • Might as well say it, Minority opinion, granted, but I like Joss & I'm okay with this WSB story & i hope that Emma will be their next recruit & she & Joss can be partners.
    • Thanks again @Paul Raven  The Arlene/Ben/Betsy triangle is one I wish I could see for myself as on paper it doesn't tend to excite me but I can see how well-constructed it was. I wish I could see the Rick/Meg relationship too, although I wish they'd had him genuinely fall for Meg after he gets together with Cal. The whole Brooke/Deacon/Bridget story on B&B was horribly damaging to Brooke as a character but it was dramatically very sound because I could completely believe Deacon would fall for messy and vulnerable Brooke after finally settling down with the more docile Bridget.

    • According to the head writer list, it seems the show may have started to fall apart while either the Schneiders or Upton were writing.  And when it started to crumble, it crumbled fast.  It was sad to see everything Labine had brought to LOL be disassembled.

Welcome back!!! And I see Abe and Paulina got a new apartment too, which is just a redress of John/Marlena’s, Steve/Kayla’s, etc. But it looks kinda nice. And I enjoyed his scenes with Chanel. It added another perspective to everything that’s been going on with her and Johnny. And Abe using his own history with Lexie to comfort Chanel was a good idea. Plus, it also provided us with more suspicion/red herring about Johnny possibly shooting EJ. I’m looking forward to see what happens between her and Johnny. And I’m so glad that the two of them are on the frontburner now.  Speaking of Johnny, I still have no problem with him going to work for Titan. The drama could be so good, especially once EJ finds out. To me, it seems like another realistic reaction to everything that’s been happening to Johnny lately. It doesn’t seem random and over the top either. And I like that they remembered to have Johnny tell Xander that he has no corporate experience whatsoever. Surprisingly, the two of them work well together. And so do Carson and Deidre. I love how the Marlena/Johnny relationship has been featured so much.  Kayla was still strong and kicking ass today too. The writer change has helped her/Mary Beth so much. But I do admit we should’ve seen Steve trying to get into Dr. Russell’s lab rather than Kayla instructing him over the phone.  And unfortunately, Chad and Cat still don’t seem to be doing much for me though. The cliffhanger was ok too.   Btw, Days was trending at #4 this morning on Peacock
    • There was a huge outcry when we learned that JFP intended to off Donna.
